The Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly FC are doing well in the tournament. Wayad Casablanca are in the most difficult group, they will face Juventus, Manchester City, and United Arab Emirates club Al Ain. I doubt the Moroccans can make it past group stage. In my opinion Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. and Al Ahly FC are the two African clubs to look out for in this competition.

So far all the teams he mentioned has played very beautiful football even if most of them lost. I can remember watching Wydad against Manchester City, they tried but trust Manchester City is far better than them so I did not expect them to win. In the meantime, Al Ahly is doing well, same with Sundowns FC which is my favorite African team in this competition.

What i have to say concerning this issue on ground as a matter of discussion is that, first we should not be moved by the crowd, because anything can come form them and this alone could be discouraging, but believe me, if he said he has hanged his boot for playing for Nigeria, then improve and get back on track in his career in his Club outside, then one day, Nigerians will pray for his come back, he does not score a goal in Nigeria does not proof his professionalism being questioned, this is what we talked about, sometimes the players have to coordinate themselves and get used to each other, just like the way most of them play for their clubs.

In Nigeria we talk and joke about this a lot especially when a rated player performing in his club isn't doing the same in national level. I remembered receiving Al Ahly notification on my Livescore app. Al Ahly played today against Palmeiras, and they lost by 2 goals. This is match 2/3 already, next game will be against Porto, and i have the feeling that they can't beat Porto. Porto winning will be 4 points in total, waiting to see results from Inter Miami and Palmeiras, it will be a tricky one for Porto and Al Ahly playing 3/3 from Group A, as there is very little possibility to qualify.

Palmeiras football team played very well against Al Ahly football team as they did 2 goals in this match and Al Ahly players could not do any goal in this match. The head to head performance of both teams is similar because both teams won 1, 1 match and last match won by Palmeiras and yesterday was their lucky day and Al Ahly players could not do anything in this match and match was ended with 2-0 result. Abou Ali  was a person who did first goal of the match and he did this goal at 49 minutes of the match and that was in the second half and in the second half we saw another goal and López did second goal of the match and he did this goal at  59 minutes.The stats of Al Ahly team was brilliant but could not do any goal in this match.

Wydad Casablanca of Morocco

Wydad Casablanca is a very decent team, i say so because i watched their first match against Manchester City, i know Wydad lost the game 2-0, but they gave City a very good run for their money and performed far above my expectations. I like it when underdogs are bold and take the game to the team that is favorite, it makes the match interesting, though sometimes it could lead to a thrashing, lol.

Wydad Casablanca performance against Manchester City was above my expectations and I can't take away the fact that we probably underestimated them before the game because of where they are coming from but watching them withstand Manchester City despite conceding 2 goals in the game shows how strong they are. I wasn't surprised to see them matching City because Manchester City is not as good as before but the underdog team showed a good fighting spirit in the game until the full-time.

Yes I was impressed by their performance if not of some missed chances wydad would have even scored so I was really impressed their performance was above average because they went tow to tow with Manchester City what they lacked was a good striker infront of goal

I was also expecting them to register one goal but you know how it is when and underdog team is playing a more balanced team they may have the opportunity to control the ball but the chances to put the ball at the back of the net is usually their problem. The performance of Wydad Casablanca also exposed the weakness of Manchester City which shows they the team still has a lot to work on before the next season begins if they play against a good team they can't escape getting defeated.

Even though Wydad Casablanca failed to register a goal against Manchester City, I was impressed with Wydad Casablanca's performance against Manchester City because, with Wydad Casablanca's exposure and experience in football, I never expected Wydad Casablanca could perform well against Manchester City. If Wydad Casablanca can maintain the same performance or improve their performance in their remaining matches, I believe they will get a better result.

I agree with you about the African teams that they are doing well but let's say after the first leg, judging by that, the Al Ahly side are now in a tight corner of advancing into the next phase of this competition and from their standing it seems they might crash out after playing their last game which is against Porto who also need a win, so this encounter might be the last time we'd see either of them (Porto and Al Ahly) in this competition that's if they draw but if any gets a win that's where goals difference had to come in.
Wayad Casablanca are not in any way getting out of this because the top teams in that group are getting their best in this competition and the Moroccan team is nowhere fit for either teams when you have Man City and Juventus occupying 1st and 2nd position respectively I think is time to say goodbye to Wayad Casablanca.
Mamelodi Sundowns are doing more better than Al Ahly and they could survive this group since Dortmund is not pressing much pressure to stay at the top and I'd have to say that African teams are trying but not Wayad Casablanca they are not up to the task together with the headache of a group they found themselves. Mamelodi Sundowns need to get something in their next game to be comfortable on the log so let's say they are the best among the other African clubs in this competition.

The west and East African countries will need to put more efforts in their mode of play, welfare packages for their players and overall not being sentimental in their choice of players when bringing up a formidable squad to represent them in any competition. They should rather be an encouragement to other continental club teams to follow in their ways of playing a football that includes the spirit of high sportsmanship. I hope to also see them playing in the next Club World Cup matches, hopefully we see a familiar club from west Africa to also root for as a whole as they play in the competition by next time the competition is going to be featured again.

You have a very valid point in this comment, majority of the players from some African countries are under pressure to perform but mean while their welfare packages are very poor and this affects their motivation to perform well in their home team, and that is the result of the poor performance we are seeing from them, even though they are performing excellently in their various club's.


A lot of the time that we have some of them on the red line of injuries, most of their countries abandon them without proper financial commitments to them so after such experiences, their motivation and dedication becomes very low this is what is affecting most west Africa teams like Nigeria, Ghana and others in their categories.

When a player is performing well for his club and fails to perform well for his country at the international level, that player will be criticized by his country's people and past players of his country who aren't impressed by the player's performance. It was really a fascinating encounter between these two teams but I was somehow disappointed in mamelodi sundowns because they scored first but after their first goal of the game they switched off which put them in a very disadvantage position because borussia dortmund came back and scored four goals and made it 4-1, it was when they were already losing by four goals to one they woke up from their slumber, but by then it was too late, if they didn't have switched off in the first half after they got the opening goal, this is a game they would have won convincingly in my own perspective .

Fluminense is quite powerful as a team from Brazil. Even though Sundowns showed good quality and were competitive against Borussia Dortmund but the Brazilian team is stronger in my opinion.
From what I noticed in different bookies, Fluminense odds are around 1.9, less than two in all of them and Sundowns odds exceed 4, at around 4.1..
I know odds don't tell the truth all the time, yet it is a way to see how most people think about the game.

Mamelodi Sundowns F.C is also the African team I like but since only two are to go I don't no what to say about them because there group isn't the ones we often seem as equal, apart from the strong one that might be on there myst, they started with 3 point but loss the next, the clubs that would make it impossible for them are borussia Dortmund and Fluminense, already borussia Dortmund that should have been leading, Fluminense is there instead, so actually the african club is not the group  finest over borussia Dortmund or Fluminense squad.

I didn’t watch the match but I watched the highlights. Pregame I didn’t expect the scoreline to be this close, Mamelodi Sundowns were impressive in the match.  I’m proud as if it was the Super Eagles that performed in the match, they may have lost but they showed quality in the match and that matters to me.

I just finished watching the highlight, and i must say that i'm really impressed. From the few clips i watched, i think their defense killed them, but their attack was just too crazy. It's very interesting when we see African clubs and even country sides, competing with the European side. I believe this particular edition of the club world cup is primarily to create awareness that Africa has got some serious and tough business going down in their own league, so the next time when they see us defeating those tops sides, it won't come come as a surprise.

I think there is one more game to go for Sundowns in the group stage. A draw is not advisable, so i hope they get all points to advance to the next round. Be it a club in Nigeria or South Africa, a win for one is a win for all, and a top performance, especially against top sides, should be appreciated.

After Fluminense played draw against Dortmund and won their last game against Ulsan HD and got to the top of their group, i'm afraid but Mamelodi Sundowns won't stand a chance to win Fluminense which is why the bookies gave them higher odds and i believe that Borussia Dortmund will as well win Ulsan HD which shows that Dortmund and Fluminense will emerge first and second in their group but for Mamelodi Sundowns, they have no hope of going above the group stages. African teams are not really doing well at the Club world cup and from their positions in their respective groups, they may all not go above the group stages.

I watched the Mamelodi Sundowns and Borussia Dortmund game, but I left the game halfway when Borussia Dortmund was leading Mamelodi Sundowns by 1-4 because I wanted Mamelodi Sundowns to win or draw against Borussia Dortmund so that two African teams could get through to the knockout phase of the Club World Cup, but since Mamelodi Sundowns was losing to Borussia Dortmund, the game was not interesting for me to watch. When I checked the result of the game on Livescore, I was surprised that the game ended 3-4 because I never expected Mamelodi Sundowns could score 2 goals in the second half.

Football fans can be mean sometimes but it's still understandable since it's all part of the passion they have for the team that's making them to say these things as for victor Boniface, there is absolutely no doubt that he is an exceptional player but sometimes player don't tend to blend very well in the national side since like you said it's something they all come together in a short time and play together.

Truly Victor Boniface is not performing exceptionally well in the country side as he does when he plays for Bayern Leverkusen. This is not unusual and it happens to many players also. Osimehn have fully taken his position as the main striker in the Nigeria team league and always come in as substitution in most matches. I have great concerns on him on how he plays, he needs to put some more effort in this game to come out exceptionally and as a player a team will reckon on for the long time. He may not really get his shine in the Nigerian team much again because it seems that their era will soon come to an end.
