Bankman-Fried was moved to the low-security Terminal Island federal correctional institution. Previously, he was located at the Victorville medium-security facility, a notoriously violent place, according to prison consultant firm Elizabeth Franklin-Best.
According to the report, it was said that his non violent conduct was the main reason for the move. He's lucky they think he cannot break free from prison. In some parts of the world, this would not really matter and he would stay there until his jail time completes.
He is lucky that he was moved to a low-security prison because as I remember, Trump wants to transfer high-security prisoners to El Salvador and now think about what will happen to Sam Bankman if he moves in El Salvador's CECOT prison, that is a pure hell on planet earth but it's more of a hell for someone like Sam Bankman who didn't commit any violent crime and who grew up in a normal family and was working a normal job.
also a couple years back SBF was saying he was suffering from mental struggles so i believe he was put in medium security for some suicide watch stuff(extra observational procedures), and since then been evaluated to not be a risk to himself and others so they downgraded him
Isn't it standard in every prison to maximally avoid suicide attempts? By the way, do they have rights to take antidepressants or other kind of meds in prison if they have suicidal thoughts? I have no idea and wonder if someone knows.
