There is a popular saying that Prevention is better than cure and for this, the best precaution is to have a separate app for gaming because this is a common bait for hackers including free sites to stream life matches, which often contain many ads. These can be use to send malwares to your device by hackers.

Even downloading from the trusted source can be risky since hackers are always  looking for ways to infiltrate these platforms and in the past, they man, have been successful even for a short while and that can be enough time to cause harm onvictim.

I just want to add.

Even downloading re-packaged premium apps that are being distributed as free apps is also dangerous as well since the android system is open source, there's a lot of harm that can come from downloading such apps. Risk is just too high for such reward.

Imo, if you can't get premium, just stick to open source version of software. I find that open source alternative are more maintained and likely have more eyes looking at it to spot vulnerabilities.
