Why would someone fight to lose? China and the USA both lose very badly in a war with the other. Therefore, one would have to select a third side to be on in such a war. Not only are nuclear weapons enough to kill a substantial fraction of the population, but robots are coming in a few years that will kill the survivors. War is rapidly becoming only something for psychotic rich clans or families.
During the 1940's industrial power was the USA. Now the industrial power is China. But, wars are no longer controlled primarily by industry but rather by technology. China has much more power output growth than the USA which helps them with AI, so that will be a major factor to their benefit. But Communism is a weak spirit, a corrupted force, and could not easily win against any country in a much more libertarian position.
Future wars could be more like mass genocide type empire building for elite clans... small bands that use most of their countries population as cannon fodder if they are foolish enough to accept the war propaganda to support a war effort.
Mankind needs instead to spiritually ascend to a more enlightened state where voluntary cooperation of virtue and value replaces state force of physical strength.
