Third open heart surgery in the history books!

I underwent 2 open heart surgeries in 1983 - just one week apart.   The valve they gave me was supposed to last 7-10 years, it lasted 41!

I had so many anxious memories of those 5 weeks of recovery, but this time was so different!  Very little pain, lots of anxiety meds and many university student nurses (23+ OG) constantly massaging my back and chest to get air going in the lungs.

For any of you considering open heart surgery for your next major upgrade, I highly recommend it -it's added twenty years to my life.   Alberta Health Services are not only free but well funded too.
