Could decentralized IP governance actually work ?

Lately, i’ve been seeing more movement around projects using AI for more advanced innovations and i think that industry is just showing a little bit of its potential. One in particular TCOM is  claiming to be a decentralized intellectual property (IP) governance protocol that give creators more control over their work, how it’s licensed, and how the value is shared by using AI and blockchain.

It’s actually difficult for me to tell how this will play out in the IP industry but given the idea seems to be moving control away from the big companies and into a transparent, community-driven process. I’m definitely keeping a close watch. Would love to hear your opinion if you know more about this.

There are other AI IP infra already called story protocol which got massive funding and has been working with few popular university.
These kind of infrastructure always have a hard time catching the attention of creators and artists out there though so it's not being utilized fully.

If there's a platform that will takes care of ownership using blockchain technology, I will bet on a project that actually got the biggest funding.

I totally understand. Story protocol might have a bigger funding however i see adoption in this space can’t be determined fully by capital. There are other factors as well. Most creators might trust blockchain IP systems less and might find it hard to understand. But any project that makes ownership simple and truly beneficial for them will have the better chance of lasting and if TCOM does that, i’m sure will stand a chance.

I doubt that blockchain would add anything positive to it. It would be just more complex and slower. By definition decentralized IP wouldn't need any ownership, and trying to somehow tokenize that wouldn't make any sense. Just because blockchains are a form of decentralization in theory, not everything needs that kind of decentralization.

Torrent distribution protocol is a working example of decentralization without incentivizing tokenization or a blockchain.

These days, all projects want to initiate AI cause they know investors are drawn to AI projects but the truth is most of them lack the vision and capacity to push the project to go the distance, which they planned for it and in most cases, there is always a flop with developers.

Simplicity is for sure an aspect that can be improved overtime.

From what I know, incentivization works best for these kind of thing, to attract creator or potential IP owners and that requires big funding.
Although other project might pull off a better product, still it's funding for incentivizing that wins, that's the hard truth from what I've seen so far.
