But I see that many people are replying to posts in multiple posts in small sizes and marking them beautifully. I tried to reply to some people by (quote), but when I click on the (Preview) option after writing the reply post, I can see that my post is not being done properly. Please help me know what to follow so I can make the posts correctly and beautifully.

Yes, again you can. But I strongly advised beginners to read more first, than to be in a hurry to make a post. Because it is always likely that whatever question they may have to ask has already been answered. The only exception is when there is a more recent information or unique angle to it.

There's nothing like running a code, it's just an understanding of how to insert the necessary quote pattern as the previous reply you got explains, same also I do by quoting you,if you want to know how it's been done in another way, then click on quote under my reply or the previous one you got from the other user, you can see it by the right side on the top of my post here, same applies to every other posts coming, once you press the quote button, then you will see the  explanation to how it works there.

Click the "Help" tab then click on "Posting". It's also on the upper left area beside "Home". There you will find the basics for posting. Personally, what I do is quote the replies of other members and see how they structure their posts, then I try to copy how they do it.

For instance I want to quote you just like you may want to quote others, click on the "quote" bar just like directed on the image below.

Place your cursor below the end quote tag displayed as [/quote] and type in your words below and you are good to go.
Note that you can as well select the interesting lines (texts) you want to quote from the users posts you want to quote and cut off the rest.
To quote multiple lines per users post, you have to guide the interested texts with the open and close quoting tags

Yes that is a bulletin board code format for quoting in the bitcointalk channel, it is encoded by the simple machine forum in the platform.

It's self explanatory if you ask me. The forum's BB codes and tools are very much similar to that of your regular HTML 5 codes which simply means if you have a basic understanding how HTML formatting works then you should be able to use the forum syntaxes without any issues all you'll have to do is replace the angled brackets with square brackets.

I don't think there are guides specifically about these tools. Although I have created one about most tools generally I didn't make emphasis on basic usage of how each tool syntax works.

I had this problem when I joined this forum and it took me some time to figure out as I couldn't summon courage to create a post for that because I was scared of being laughed at. That was then, now I have grown "thick skin" and will readily ask any question without fear.

If you are having issue with the quote what you will simply do is to quote any post that you see such quotes displayed and them study how they were arranged and if necessary copy it to a new tap and try to edit and replicate the same thing. I was even writing it down when I was practising and that helped me master it faster.

BBcode and HTML are very similar, but it depends on how a beginner is whether or not they are familiar with HTML.
Even if you don't understand HTML and BBcode, you will start to be able to do it if you are used to practicing in this forum.


I didn't know at all at first, but then I kept learning and trying each guide and understanding how BBcode works.
And some guidelines have also been explained, just learn them.

Good threads to lay hands on to learn about the etiquettes of good quoting. I always know that any difficulty found in the forum by mostly newbies have been addressed in the past, but I haven’t bothered to look for one in this particular topic about posting etiquettes, maybe because I never found it hard to quote people even in my early days, so I never knew of this threads.

What I did was to quote users with the type of reply I want to give or users who have same quote pattern, images and text representation as I want to also, then I learn from there. I play around with different styles to see the look of it by previewing them, I learnt a lot of things through that method and it was helpful also. I don’t create threads to ask about most of this because I learned them gradually by myself.

This is how it should look so you don't end up plagiarizing someone else's post by trying to own it instead of referencing the original owner of the post.

Using BBcodes is just like basic programming, every opening tag must have a corresponding closing tag, when your quotes are not properly formatted, then it simply means that there is an open tag that was not properly closed, then you look out for it, close it and your quote would be good

It's easy to quote any comment you want to reply. Just as they have shown you already, just click on the quote options like the arrow in the image you can quote any comment that you want.
If you also want to quote multiple comments altogether in one post you can also that day by simply clicking on insert quote while making your replys.
Most newbies that come to the forum lately don't know how to insert quote when they want to quote multiple comments, so they end up doing they one after the other and that's another form of spam.
