So we all know that with the current difficulty level of the bitcoin network it's near impossible based on probability calculations for a honest solo miner to successfully mine a block and practically it rarely happens. Anyways I was just browsing through the mempool a couple minutes ago when I discovered something interesting ;

So basically a couple minutes ago block 910201 was mined by a miner marked as unknown by the mempool. As the topic says , could it be that a solo miner was the one that successfully mined that block?

There are a lot of 'unknown' miners and most are large private pools that simply don't report who they are.

Unknown miners that are mining new blocks are common than what many people are thinking. Block 910265 was mined just 27 minutes ago by unknown miner. After block 910201 was mined. Also block 910248 was mined by an unknown miner. All the 3 in just 13 hours ago.

Also before the block 910201 was mined, unknown miners are mining blocks as usual.

So there is really no way to know how many terahash was used to mine this block, that hurts  Angry but at the same time this is useful for people like us who can one day end up mining a block too. At least this is better than spending alot of money on gambling.

I would rather be hopeful that I can solve a block one day than hoping that I will be a millionaire by gambling all the time l, if I have only one option I will choose to play the gambling game of solving a block, I guess this is easy for because of the power from the sun.

Thank you for sharing, I will stay hopeful even while it might never happen.

You want solo hash rate numbers go to -ck's thread in the Pools area. A couple years ago a Compaq-F running around 600GHs found one. Most have been folks renting massive hash, highest I've seen pointed there was 1 EHs for over a day (and it did NOT find a block). On average I'd say most recent ones were around 100PH or more.

I agree with you. Unknown miners do show up more often than many people notice. But I think it's important to point out that “unknown” doesn’t always mean a solo miner hit the jackpot, in most cases it simply means the pool hasn’t tagged its coinbase transactions or the blocks just haven’t been attributed yet.

That said, every once in a while, real solo miners do manage to slip in in the mix and that’s what gets the community buzzing.

Based on the Coinbase data/message it looks like this is not a solo miner because I found another block with the same coinbase message.
This block: 909944
It has similar Coinbase data except for the first Chinese character.
It might a big company with large mining farm because they can mine a block a day gap I saw more blocks by searching this Coinbase data: "22eccaf1-532b-406a-aa6e-0f956d397301".
So, I believe this isn't a solo miner.

Super rare, but some lucky solo miners do end up hitting a block even at today’s difficulty. It’s kinda like winning the lottery – odds are tiny, but not zero. Always cool to see when it pops up.

The odds a very small and because of this it's almost considered as impossible. Until the replies from users on this thread I wasn't really sure that some pools never identified themselves so I just concluded that most ones marked as unknown are most likely solo miners, and again it makes sense since a couple of reoccurring times you see unknown on some mined blocks.

There are a lot of pools and not all pools want statistics to know about them
https://miningpoolstats.stream/bitcoin
Usually information about found solo blocks is known from this pool
https://btc.solopool.org/
I looked up the site and there are way more pools than a currently recognised on the mempool. Most people only know or the top pools like via BTC and Foundry USA.
