I agree with you that power is taken not given in the politics, because you have to fight for the power with some things that will make people around the society to believe that you are capable to lead the people to achieve their goal. And they will do everything possible with their power to support you to make sure you take the power to deliver the society, because every society want change that will affect their generation in the nearest future.

There are some corrupt politicians that like to give power to those who they can still control in the position to make sure they recover the money they spend to give power to the person and it will not make such person to perform well as a leader, because there is someone playing godfather.

No body gives you power but it is taken from the people by those that need it. It is taken from the poor, the rich, middle class, religion, ethnic groups,weaker countries etc.If you need power especially politicians and world power countries,these people can go to any length to make sure they get that power. 

We live in a world and environment where power is highly valued; we nurture our ability to gain power in school, at home, and from our environment because, in this world, it's all about power.
And part of being powerful is exerting influence over those who are powerless and low-level citizens. Your power determines your value in this world, and what's your connection to the powerful? There are two kinds of power: power that comes from respect and power that comes from fear, and both are being employed by those who want to be in control.

Each country is showing power either by technology or man power.

The world is designed to be a place for survival, so countries go head to head in order to get who becomes the more superior and that who became the follower or has to abide by them. Power is something of the political and if you’re not in the best side, you’ll be ruled over and not have your own say in the political field which has taken all other sectors of life in a country into its custody.

If you’re not in power, you’re regarded as not valuable, not measurable and will be discarded even in a place where you have the capability to stay. Power is limitless but it’s not everything. So in your urge to fight and conquer power, you should do it with humanity at heart or it may end being the end of you in the long run. Fight for power justly and use it in the fight against inhumanity.

There are in instances in history in which people have voluntarily given up their power for the sake of democracy and the well-being of their country.
Take the example of George Washington, he fought the English army off the American continent and after he managed to do that, he gave up the power of the continental army to the Congress of the United States.
So while it is rare to see those things happening in human history, it is not impossible for it to happen.

In counties that have democracy, the power is in the people. And that's what these politicians makes them power hunger. In a simple publicity stunt, they are praised and loved and they know the formula to be loved by the most and to get into that position that they crave for the power that it has got. As for the superpowers, in terms of military, we know why these countries are fighting and that's to show how powerful they are and they can take territories based on their own belief what is theirs. They dont need and choose bilateral talks because that's too peaceful for their people. *pun intended.
