Who is an educated Person?

Well according to the advanced learners dictionary, it describes an educated person as someone who has a very high standard of learning, while the Oxford dictionary states  that an educated person is someone that have been to a school, be it primary, secondary or tertiary, we all know that education plays an important role in the forum, cause one ought to know how to read and write properly to be able to participate in the activities going on here.

 However in my understanding asides from knowing how to read and write, which describes someone educated, i think an educated person can also be described as someone that can set defenses around themselves against the world, most of us here come from or lives in areas that's insecured. Therefore based on their intelligence they should be able to strategize how to protect themselves and keep themselves from getting into danger, an illiterate might be physically strong  but might lack the basic understanding of how to survive, but it takes someone educated to study their surroundings and figure out how to safeguard themselves from being harmed. The insecurity in our country is getting out of hand, and in this new year we all need to be very strategic on how to survive. Everyone needs to be on guard, cause that's part of what makes us educated.

Being educated doesn't just mean going to school and reading books, being educated is the ability to use your senses to navigate lives struggles and the ability to show that you are exposed and your sense of reasoning should not be the same as an uneducated. An educated person is someone that has the ability to communicate to another person without being rebelious.

To me, am educate person is someone who has gone through the walls of higher institutions, and have acquired a knowledge of certain profession for a period of 4- 5 years, and is able defend his profession.
 However, to a common man, an educated person is someone who is able to read and write. An educated person is supposed to have an advantage in the society in terms of acquiring a job, but it isn't so because of the bad economy and how the so called leaders have corrupted the system.

In my own perspective once you went to school and have academic qualifications, such as a diploma or degree, I can say you are educated but not in real life.
Can you imagine a person who hasn’t attended any school but has engaged themselves in life’s rich experiences? They can read very well,they are into many conversations with people and understand the behaviours of people.

Education is not only going to school, for example, the so called mechanic who understands the problems of engines and fixes them didn't go through any classes but through hands and sef taught experience and has a passion for problem solving in machines. Imagine the person that went to school as a graduate in mechanical engineering and couldn't be able to fix just a common problem in an engine, so they're educated people by book and an educated people by practical experience in life

School is not only the criteria that someone has to fulfil to be termed educated. The correct identity of an educated person is someone who knows how to read, write and then seek out information for yourself. Not everyone who has been in school is educated, some just passed through school and are still not educated. Education brings a civilised mindset, and the behaviour of an educated person and an uneducated person is very different from each other.

I have heard the term "educated Illiterate" before used in the description of some people, it is because these people went to school but are not behaving educated.

You are right to be educated doesn't mean you will first go to any higher institution or primary or secondary school as long as you are able to read, write my brother you are educated ooh there are people that just pass through school school didn't pass through them they can't be able to write correctly or read most of them find it difficult to even spell or write their name correctly. I have heard people telling some other people that he never behave like some one who is educated our character also shows if some one is educated or not it doesn't matter if you went to school or not.

Educated person Na person wey done get knowledge, skills through formal education wey we dey go school for, some persons dey acquire education through Self study and life experiences, no be only person wey go school be educated person, you fit go school and you no get education, most life experiences and self study fit give h education, I know people wey done stay house read come enroll for WAEC write am pass,so education goes beyond school, it's actually improving urself anyhow you fit do am, as we dey for this forum wey dey learn,most things wey know here today dem no teach us for school, that's education broh.

Remember that our Mr President also passed his WAEC exams through self education them tell us and today him done become the Presido of the country. Smiles... But on a serious note what you're saying is not far from the truth. I noticed that there are many more people who actually excelled through self education than you can think of and many of them are always far better when it comes to practical than those who actually went to the schools who are more of the abstract than the experiments.

Let's also use this medium to encourage people to learn more of skills both soft skills and the hard ones so that they can survive with it. The economy is in a terrible condition the standard of living is on the high side and there are little to no subsidies left coming from the side of the government. This government has been doing more of taking and less of giving as more taxes including the fuel pump tax, personal income tax and several others surfacing by the day.
