Am not that surprised at all because of few reasons, first, we are the most populated country in Africa, and all Nigerian by birth and by location knows how to relate with people in our pigin language, secondly, even some foreigners knows how to speak our pigin like Ghana and some other indigen of other west African states.

If am not mistaken it was two months ago that they Henry the legendary arsenal striker was saying on air that he knows how to speak our pigin because kanu nwankwor thought him, and he was saying it in pigin and I quote "I sabi speak pigin oo, no look me that kind eye thinking say I no know wetin you dy talk about because I understand you well, and na kanu nwankwor nai I learn from since him dy always talk to me with pigin"; so what am trying to say is that most foreigner knows how to speak our pigin well, so I don't doubt this news.

Na the common language wey dey easily for people to understand, and pidgin dey give one kind vibe, especially if person misunderstand your English and the talk won come dey lead to quarrel, u fit just speak pidgin make they understand and you go see say everywhere go calm.

Tha value alone should be from Nigeria of over 200m population where more than 70-80% understand and speak Pidgin English as second language and we still have other West Africa countries that also speaks and understand English pidgin so I think it should be up there in Top10.

If you go to Norther part of the country, you will see them. Those that are riding bikes, cars, buses for business there does not even know amount in English. You have to tell them in Hausa before they will understand you. It was strange to me when I first went to Northern part of the country and they are far more than those that speak English and Pidgin English.

This is so true; I lived in the North for a year during my NYSC service and interacted with most of the Hausa corpers, and they could barely speak or understand Pidgin. I noticed one thing among the Hausa: those who know how to speak English barely speak Pidgin, and those who don't understand English barely speak at all.  Pidgin English is not widely spoken among the Hausa tribe.

I agree with you because if you look at the most populated nations in the world, Nigeria is ranked sixth, and practically almost everyone speaks and understands pidgin, so that 120.7 million is surely underappreciated because Pidgin is the most spoken language in Africa. I speak Hausa, and I must admit that I'm shocked and amazed to see hausa ranked 19th. I searched into how this could be possible, and I discovered that the majority of the bordering countries Niger, Ghana, Cameroon, Chad, and Benin speak Hausa. Although I've heard from history that Cameroon was once a part of Nigeria.

I won't be surprised if foreigners start speaking Nigerian Pidgin. Pidgin sounds so sweet and is widely understood among Nigerians. It would be better if the federal government made Nigerian Pidgin an official language in Nigeria like other countries do, like China, India, and others that make their languages official to speak and write. It could also bring development to the country because people from other countries will learn pidgin and make communication with one another easier. and it will also make easier most especially people in rural areas or trades to communicate with anyone across the country.

Naija na popular country and this one don make oyinbo people kon dey like us how we dey united for the wey we dey speak the pigin language. Na him make am our song dey sweet for mouth wey make am people from other African countries kon dey copy is because they wan be like us.

We don even see how one fine gurl from South Africa take collect Grammy because she use our Afrobeat blow. Our Pigin language sweet for mouth die and I no go stop to dey speak am. The kind joy wey this language dey give me no be small. E dey totori my body like say joy dey road dey come.

Many African countries just wan be like us and I go like make we no dey use this language play. Na our colour be that, na our communication language be that. We no supposed to make us difficult for us to speak. Naija still get a lot to achieve for the waka wey we dey, corruption that the major problem wey we get we dey spoil this country.

Am not surprised that the Nigeria pidgin is very popular is Africa because there was a day i saw some people from Uganda speaking the pidgin english on social media. Not only that, even in stadiums where you see a Nigerian they always speak the pidgin english and i was amazed one day when i came across Super Falcons players like Michelle Alozie and Ashleigh Plumptre, they were speaking the Nigeria pidgin even when they weren't born in Nigeria but their Nigerian team mates thought them how to speak it. Though i admire the Nigeria pidgin so much because it is very easy for almost everyone in the country to communicate with but i just wish that there weren't any english words in the language but since we do not have any other common language that every tribe can communicate with, we adopted the pidgin english as our own lingua franca.

Na good observation you make because even me I they hardly see any Hausa person way they hama pidgin because them only they use to there language and even English them they hardly teach am for there school na waiting make even to speak the pidgin way they simple no green them. Apart from them every other tribe way they for the country no how to speak am very wella.

Nigerians are the best when it comes to globalising what we do or showcasing our talent. I can still beat my chest to say Nigeria is still the giant of Africa regardless of the fact that we don't have good government and our system is so corrupt.

Nigerian pidgin is suppose to be celebrated because almost all the countries in Africa want to copy the language, including European countries. This shows that we are consistent in showing to the world that we are capable of dominating the world in due time.

Pidgin English is widely spoken in so many countries of Africa including Cameroon, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria etc. this is basically as a result of the British colonialism as most countries in Africa that the British colonized have a broken way of speaking English, just the way you have some Jamaicans speaking patois an offshoot of the English language. So by the time you combine the countries of Africa that speak the pidgin English and how they've been able to export the impact of the pidgin English across the globe, you shouldn't be surprised to see the length to which pidgin has gone.

Yes, but the Nigeria Pidgin is differentiated from other West African Pidgin. Another one on the list is the Ghanaian Pidgin which is ranked 187th and reported to be spoken by 5 million people, which will be the Ghanaians. Although, maybe it would have been better if it is called West African Pidgin and it should be generalized.
