I read it and Lopp does get overly personal... He also brought up some valid criticisms, however, and the main takeaway is that Knots is overly reliant on a single person.
Yes, he absolutely raises some good points but he went way too far with the personal stuff that it sounds more like a desperate attempt at getting people back to Core. It could have focused on the security issues of the past and the weakness of relying on a single person. If Core can be compromised by a government, compromising Knots is trivial. This is just one example of a downside.

As a Knots supporter, I'm just curious: do you think enough people would use a Knots fork coin to make it valuable, or is that off the table in terms of negotiations with Core? I'm trying to get an assessment of what Knots users think about this subject.
I'm not the right person to ask this!

(For the reference, I have never run anything other than Bitcoin Core as my node - yet).
It may seem that way because contrary to my approach to shitposters here I value real Bitcoin users, especially node operators. I try to see the perspective from their side and argue in their favor. In regards to a potential fork, I hope that it does not happen under any case. I really hated the Bitcoin forks scam, and most altcoins that exists today are a scam for me too.

desperate attempt

I think it's pretty telling how https://www.therage.co/leaked-luke-dashjr-bitcoin-hardfork/  hasn't been mentioned or discussed in any of these threads.

Maybe because the article came out only 3 days ago and most people didn't see it yet? I only found out about it today. In any case there is another thread already about it.

The thing you're missing is that both knobs and knots are both jokes, the difference is that in one of them the author is in on the joke.

Back in 2017 I created a github fork of Bitcoin Core and called it Bitcoin Official to prove some points about the nature of decentralization and open source to some people I was talking to.  After a week or so, I just sort of abandoned it and left it sit there on github doing nothing with it.  Eventually, maybe a year or two ago, I was cleaning up various accounts in various locations and decided to delete the project from github.

Over the last couple of months, I've been really wishing I had kept it alive and pulled all Core updates into it every time a new release of Core was released. It feels like it would have been:
  • A great example in personal discussions with people about what it means to be a contributor and or publisher of a piece of open source software
  • A useful piece of satire/irony in the current overly emotional discussions/arguments/rants that seem to lack logical consistency and any technical understanding of how Bitcoin actually works.

I try so hard not to be a pack rat, but then when I do clean house I always seem to regret it.
