I recieved a similar email from blockchain.com and I was surprised. Blockchain.com was my first wallet which a Ponzi schemer directed me how to open and safeguard my seed phrase.
I was later scammed of 0.3 BTC and it was the wallet I used to make the transaction. After the incident, that was how I stopped using Blockchain till today. But I remember still having it installed in my device.

Well, it does say "to access all features". This is probably a reference to their swap/exchange features they have. -snip-
I can confirm this.
I have a wallet there used for testing and I can still send the assets under "DeFi Wallet" tab without going through KYC.

Their new web wallet version opens the "Account" tab by default though, so some users may think that it's now mandatory.

But that aside, OP's statement of it being one of the worst still stands for other reasons.
(check "Web Wallet" child-board just for context)

It was part of the wallet checklist for Ponzi schemers that were trying to use Bitcoin payments alongside Coinbase wallet,  Grin
I think this is how most newbies got to create accounts with blockchain wallet and Coinbase. That and the fact that the names were so strategically relatable to Bitcoin... "Coinbase" "Blockchain"
In fact a friend who was into Ponzi schemes back in 2016-2017 encouraged me to create a Coinbase wallet (using his referral link) and also blockchain wallet perhaps preparing me to get into his scheme but shortly the Ponzi scheme collapsed. The accounts who the remain unused for years.

Exactly, but I was unlucky in my own case that the Ponzi didn't collapse before my arrival. It waited for my arrival and crashed a few weeks later.
I hate going back to that Wallet because it makes me feel bad and regret everytime. Imagine losing .3 BTC to scammers and whenever I visit the wallet, I go straight to the history and wished I invested the money instead.

Well, it does say "to access all features". This is probably a reference to their swap/exchange features they have. Blockchain can't enforce KYC on people (unlike exchanges) because they do give you a seedphrase so you can always move to another wallet (or so I think based on the last time I checked). But yes, it's not a wallet I would recommend using. There are way better alternatives out there.
It's definitely one of the worst Bitcoin wallets because in 2015-2016, when I was experimenting with Bitcoin wallets and I didn't know much about it, my first wallet was created on Blockchain info. One of them was working okay but another one had some problems. I couldn't login into that wallet anymore, I was receiving verification email, then I was clicking on it, verification approved but blockchain.info had some technical error only on that wallet and I couldn't login, doesn't matter how many times I tried. My another wallet still works fine today but I use Electrum for almost a decade already.
Btw this is definitely a preference to their swap feature. I've been receiving such emails since the day they implemented it. Sadly, I know many who uploaded their KYC documents to get $25 for free from blockchain. It was probably in 2018 if I remember correctly.

Never get attracted to use this wallet even since before since I don't think they are at least good option to choose.

Now that I heard they asked those things like what OP has mentioned, it gives me this impression that they would never offer safe platform to their user. So better for people to stick on their wallet which they have control on their seedphrase since for me this is the most safest wallet we can use.

Don't know if I receive the same email since I lost the first email I used to register in this platform before.

That verification is optional; you can bypass it, and you can still access your funds and do transactions. The biggest worry is when you can't receive a verification to open your wallet.
I once experienced this. It took 5 hours to receive the verification. That's enough reason for me to dump this online wallet. I am good with Electrum, easily accessible, and no email code verification.
In fairness to Blockchain.com, they have added numerous features and now have their own AI in the testnet. You can try all their other features, but do not make it a storage wallet, because the service sucks.

Back to 2016-2017, blockchain wallet was the most commun use bitcoin wallet. There was no many options like today, especially for users outside bitcointalk forum. I remember blockchain wallet to be so popular because of its misleading brand name that let everybody thought that it's the real blockchain (naive ideas). Later, after lunching their exchange platforms, they force all users to do KYC except for wallet only users who are required to register only using email and mobile phone as a secondary optional security layer, without any permission to change the login password suggested by them (so risky and unsecure).

The only good thing in that web wallet is that it gives the user the ability to check/store the private key of his address, and to export/import addresses. Then later they add a non kyc swap feature using Changelly before forcing KYC and Changelly turn into a scam with ChangeNow and other swap services.

I think that they have also now an integrated exchange and so, verifying is part of it if you want to enjoy their platform with that. It's been so lon since I've used this as a wallet before and I've experienced the low fees before not until, there were a lot of issues already. And it alone as a web wallet, it's not recommended to stock bulk amounts there. Now that they implement KYC, they've become more than a wallet but I wonder what are the number of users they have on their platform. Nostalgic feels when we remember they were like .info before.

I have been using the blockchain site since around 2014 or 2015, if I remember correctly the address was blockchain.info. After a few years, unfortunately, some bitcoins were deducted from my account for no reason. At first I thought my wallet had been hacked, but then I noticed that there was always a significant amount of satoshi left in my account, and I was sure that my account had not been hacked, because I did not share that account with anyone. I contacted the site's support and all they told me was that we do not have access to any information. But now they have access to everything, even our identities.

I don't like their web app because it has always been slow but on smartphones, we don't have many choices. At some point, I was using Blockchain.info's wallet on my smartphone because it had good UI and it was giving me a good experience, I had imported my Bitcoin address key and was managing my wallet that way but I admit that it was a mistake and I shouldn't have done that for my safety but it didn't last long, in the end very soon I decided to use Electrum on my smartphone. Everything was happening before 2021.

Electrum is really good application for bitcoin wallet and its safe, it has android and pc app that you can use on both OS , due high transactions fee i use their litecoin wallet that called Electrum Litecoin im using this wallet for over 6 years without problem

Blockchain.com is a scam website, and I’ve heard many stories online about people having their bitcoins stolen. There are also a lot of complaints from people Also, on Trustpilot, many people are complaining about them.

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/blockchain.com

You have stories, and I am also a victim of this experience with blockchain.com wallets a few years ago when I joined this community my first wallet was blockchain.com. I used it for only a few months because I encountered several issues that they never resolved.
Mostly I never received any replies from them regarding any concerns I had. In one instance my friend stored 3 bitcoins in a wallet recommended by me after I advised him to do so unfortunately we were unable to recover these funds because he lost his password and the seedphrase was not functioning due to unidentified issues as a result I always advise people to avoid using blockchain.com wallets and refrain from storing any valuable assets on them as they have never demonstrated a willingness to assist users in any way.
Over the past few years, I have been using Electrum, which is considered one of the best and most reliable options without any issues.

I've been using this wallet for years and it was one of the best wallets I've used to store my Bitcoin. However, once they  started demanding KYC, I stopped using it. I don't see any convincing reason for them to enforce this. This wallet is just nonsense and I advise everyone to avoid it. .

The decentralized, open-source alternatives available in the market are enough to keep us away from Blockchain wallet. You’re not alone, OP, many others are just as dissatisfied with it. Take a look at the review sites and you will see many reasons why many people stopped using it altogether. It has now become like a CEX, a custodial, centralized wallet and therefore, it has lost its value.

When I was a newbie in the crypto world, there were popular web wallets like Coinbase, CoinPayments and Blockchain. To be honest, I didn't have enough knowledge about crypto wallets at that time. So I used first Coinbase, then Coinpayment and later Blockchain wallets. Day by day, when I understand more about crypto and wallets, I will leave using Coinbase and Coinpayment wallets. Just keep using Blockchain until they ask for KYC. When Blockchain starts asking for KYC, just stop using it after withdrawing all the funds and start using Electrum.

However, in the web wallet section, we can see a lot of allegations against Blockchain about how they are scamming users. Even I have heard Blockchain stuff involved with this kind of shady behaviour. They changed the mail and retrieved the wallet file and drained the wallet. So have to stop such wallets that claim to be noncustodial but ask for KYC.

I think each of us have started with web wallets just like what you've mentioned and it includes the blockchain wallet.

One thing about why many of us have used it because of being new, and we thought that it's an actual blockchain technology company related to bitcoin's blockchain.

We didn't thought that it's just another wallet company that has used the name of blockchain which was a brilliant idea done by the owner of it.

Learn how Blockchain.com has been trashing its reputation for a long time. It had some importance at the beginning of the last decade when people didn't really understand self-custody, but today it's completely irrelevant and now they're coming at me with this KYC thing!

The UI is horrible and completely cluttered. Why are wallets no longer having a simple UI/UX? In some wallets, you have to go through several steps to get an receiving address.

That's why Bitcoin Core, Sparrow, and Electrum are the best options, as they haven't changed much in terms of usability. Bitcoin-only wallets are simpler and better to use.

Well, because I vaguely remember the Blockchain.info wallet, their UI used to be simple back in the early days. Personally, I believe it was a stepping stone into getting into the Bitcoin world. It was easy to use, even for a newbie, and didn't require much fiddling. This has now changed, as it has also integrated an exchange into their platform, but it's true, it's a pain in the ass to navigate and find the addresses, etc. I remember it because I had recovered a wallet a few years ago, and it took me a while to find my assets, etc. Their UI nowadays is even more complex compared to a few years ago.

Is this where they are going now. From close source to messaging customers to get verified.

They even know my country from my IP address, which is not a problem for me but advising people to get verified is a big problem for me.

All web wallets are trash and a huge reasons for why people get their wallets hacked. I would never register a web wallet, even as a newbie with minimal knowledge about Blockchain.

Blockchain.com is simply exploiting their users at this point, I would imagine. Verifying users to simply use a wallet? That makes no sense. I cannot imagine any regulatory oversight demanding this of them.

I used to hear a lot of people using it, but nowadays I hardly hear anyone talking about it anymore. It's been forgotten, probably because it's so bad or because much better options like Bluewallet, Sparrow, etc. have emerged.

I access it at least once or twice a year. I remember playing around with exporting private keys via the browser's Inspect tool. But now, with mnemonic words, I can import them into Electrum and have all the private keys.

What do you think about fewer and fewer wallets restricting access to WIF private keys (although seed phrase backup is sovereign and is all the user needs to recover any funds related to the seed phrase)?
