Over time, major criticism often thrown at Bitcoin is it's involvement in illicit transactions, scams, ransomware, money laundering  and dark web dealings and these has affected the growth and reputation of the Bitcoin community. Some of these perception have slowed down the adoption of the coin as many newcomers associate BTC to the dark web causing regulatory backlash and restrictions by some government  who have tightened regulations or even placed outright ban on BTC use, this has made transactions difficult for ordinary users, though the measures are meant to avoid abuse but they also reduce bitcoins original spirit of privacy and decentralization. Also media outlets have also increased public distrust when they make reports about Bitcoin being anonymous which is not true, BTC is pseudonymous meaning it can be traced publicly on the blockchain meaning criminals leave a permanent trail for law enforcement. Though dealing with these illicit uses have made the community more mature, hence, moving forward to ensure Bitcoin continues to grow, the community needs to Promote education about how transparent and traceable Bitcoin truly is, encourage responsible adoption, especially among newcomers. Support privacy tools that protect users without enabling crime.

✓Do you think illicit activities will always affect Bitcoin’s image negatively,
or will education and adoption eventually erase that stigma?

✓And what steps do you think the Bitcoin community can take to separate the technology from the actions of bad actors?

Illicit activities has been the hook holding Bitcoin down over the years gone bye, but now, despite this illicit acts, there is room for trust for its users. Therefore, Bitcoin will out grow the bad image that has been tagged to it. Every native fiat are also being used for illicit activities, as much as Bitcoin's transaction is open and public for any/everyone to access, the banking system is not as open as it is.

Education and the young generation will see the possibilities made available in Bitcoin, and the negative stigma attached to Bitcoin will be outgrown. This will not be easy, but it is possible.

There will always be bad actors, dynamites where made for miners, to break down rocks and get easy access for finding natural mineral resources, but is now being used as a weapon of mass destruction. As much as there are good things, there will always be bad, and that cannot be removed but mitigated, and that is why we have a community like this and all others that stands against fraudulent acts.
