Hello,
that was an item from me, when I went to ship it, the shipping system simply will not let me proceed without the Tax ID or the CPF.
When I reach out and request clarification, I am provided the following:
Yes, shipping from the US to Brazil requires the recipient's Tax ID number (CPF for individuals, CNPJ for businesses) for all packages, a requirement in effect since January 1, 2020.
Failure to include this information on customs forms will result in the package being returned or disposed of by Brazilian Customs.
Exactly. Imports into Brazil must be associated with a CPF or CNPJ, which serves as a business identifier. In some cases, packages can be shipped without a CPF associated with the delivery, but Brazilian residents must associate their CPF or CNPJ through the Correios website, which handles these international shipments in Brazil. Without this, as you rightly mentioned, the package will be discarded or held for resale by the Federal Revenue Service.
The process is roughly like this. If you need any help with addressing here in Brazil, I can help!
