I noticed most didn’t go through the link I posted earlier in the thread, so I’ll clear up how OP got scammed and save you guys the stress of having to click it.
OP (the victim) got an email from Ledger impersonators, could be as a result of random spam, data breach, insider… but that’s still a misery to OP.
In short, OP clicked the bait and got phished, the rest was a story…

From the post above the victim is not Knowledgeable enough to differentiate scam practice, anyone can impersonate a site or generally wallet just for the purpose to scam many. I remembered an exchange stating how they got different emails asking why they’ll request users to invest in some kind of coin if I’m not mistaking afterwards the exchange addressed the public indicating they’re not the one responsible for such, I’m seeing similar stories all the time but, immediately anyone shares out the private key definitely the wallet is no longer safe besides everyone should be aware no wallet management will request for private details, secondly in terms of screenshots and digital privacy store it’s never right to store any information in the mobile phone although iOS version will not let a screenshot due to guide.

Damn this guy's are not relenting on their strategy to get victims over their assets. Honestly a complete novice will fall for this. Just a scan and an entire asset is lost, the Transaction-check* check route accompanied with a cloned domain could look convincing for a complete beginner and boom an entire investment becomes a thing of regret.

This is one of the main reasons why I don't like purchasing hardware wallets online and leaving my personal information with address.
Who knows how many people they scammed like this with sending emails and letters on home addresses, but people never posted anything online.
Self-custody sounds great, but you still have to use your head and think to avoid getting scammed.

This is why some people found crypto too complicated, since it is this too easy to lose everything many people believe that banking is the best, even while Bitcoin is presently the best innovation of this time many people still choose to no get involved.

Ledger wallet isn't the only one that can be compromised, even cold wallet and airgapped wallets can also be comprised, it all depends on how the user handles their devices, this is what many people don't want to do, they prefer putting the security responsibility on others that's why the choose banks and ignore Bitcoin.

Anyone who choose to be into Bitcoin needs to understand that losing Bitcoin is all on them, if they don't want to lose their Bitcoin they need to learn various ways of avoiding scams, Bitcoin is not for someone who don't want to have this responsibility over their head.

I am not surprised that's a ledger user this happened to because ledger store their seed phrase with a third party online.

From where you got that info? Ledger doesn't require you to to store your seed pohrase online, and anyone storing it anywhere online is doing a huge mistake.

Case closed. The title of the topic should be changed because seed was compromised, not Ledger. No hardware wallet can protect you if you share you seed phrase on dodgy websites.

BTW Ledger itself isn’t to be trusted but the victim’s problem didn’t come from the hardware or software because OP willingly gave out his funds without any stress lol..
OP I think you should add “Don’t be dumb enough to give out your seed online” to the list.

How do you buy something without knowing how to use it?, why will you not care about knowing all preventive and cautious ways to protect your wallet and funds?….
Newbies should be able to learn from this kind of stories, even before you start keeping funds in your wallet you should know how to protect your funds in your wallet.
No matter the wallet you’re using hot or cold, NEVER SHARE your Seedphrase or Passkey to anyone or put it online for any reason whatsoever.

I don't want to blame him, maybe he's a complete newbie and just heard people say that they have to buy a hardware wallet for safe keeping of their assets. Though I agree with you that before buying he should have an idea of what he's doing and having.

But doing a research is a part of it and receiving that kind of email that's pressuring him that there's something wrong with his funds if he won't follow the procedure.

Too bad that regardless of how many times the community reminded to be careful with such and even Ledger itself to not trust any that type of email and never enter the seedphrase online, there will be victims after all.
