Is thinking that we can only win through luck, even in games that use skill, basically a declaration of defeat? I keep seeing forum users saying there’s no way to win in sports betting because of the house edge, the juice, and that casinos or sportsbooks won’t allow players to be profitable long term.

So if we think that way, that our wins are just luck and temporary, what do we even call that mindset?

As gambler's we rely so much on luck, and there is no two ways about that, if you are gambling and you take away luck from your dictionary, you should know that you will be hitting the rock as soon as possible, because since gambling results is uncertain and you have the house edge to battle with, you definitely will lose more that you win, and in this situation luck becomes the only factor to keep you as a stable position to accept whatever outcome it may be.

No, actually it does not make much sense to assume there is something aside of luck when we manage to hit a win on a casino, regardless of the game we choose. Keep in mind all casino games are independent of skill, none of them allow skills of gamblers to have an important weight on the result of the session, otherwise casinos and bookies would not be reliable sources of income for owners of those establishments.

The only game which could be classified as skill based is poker, and only poker which is played face-to-face, to guarantee there is no foul play or assistance of bots and artificial intelligence.

If anything, being aware one's session is only dependent on luck is a good way to remain a responsible gambler.

Obviously some gamblers depend solely on luck without even trying to adopt one strategy, you know if you're this set of gamblers that depend solely on luck you can probably play for one full year without experiencing win, at that point in time some gamblers can decide to give up and they will quickly jump into conclusion that gambling can't favour them meanwhile they are the reason behind their failure.

I know that gambling is a luck base but it's almost impossible for luck to play all the role in gamble, which is why we need skill or strategy to add together with the luck as luck can't do everything on it's own.

No, knowing and saying that the game is based on luck is just a gesture that the player knows that in gambling nothing is set in stone.  It is not a declaration of defeat because if it is, then they will not gamble to try their luck at all.

Mindset that knows anything is possible in gambling and at the same time to remind us to be a responsible one since the statement shows and tells that engaging in gambling if not controlled can ruin our financial capability.

It's true that there are different types of games, as some rely on luck, like slots, which don't require skill, while others do. Skill in sports betting plays a role, increasing your chances of winning. However, that doesn't mean luck doesn't play a role. Luck still plays a role in games that require skill, but perhaps to a lesser extent. I think this mindset is quite reasonable, as luck does play a role in gambling. While some players may find long-term profits, it's rare.

I think that is true that everything is about luck but I also believe that we can create our luck percentage. Say if we analyse a game very well, then we can have a higher percentage of luck. Believing that everything is a form of luck, doesn't mean giving up but it only means that our thinking got more mature. But there is a juice in sports betting. It may be true that we can mostly get defeated playing casino games for a long time because of the house edge but I think sometimes if we are very lucky, we can negate that. As for the sports betting, since it is also based on skill, then it is possible for us here to keep winning even for the long-term.

Gambling is mostly dependent on luck. There are very few gambling games that require experience and  skill. There are some gambling  games like poker and sports  betting where skill is required. But even then they are dependent on  luck. Even if we are experienced and skilled enough, it is not possible to say  for sure that we will win in gambling. Therefore, gambling should be considered as  dependent on luck. And for this reason, even if we are experienced, it is important for us to be aware of investing money in gambling. Otherwise, since it does not take much time to make money in gambling , it does not take much time to go bankrupt either.

Some gamblers might not think that way, but when they're unlucky, do they blame themselves for losing?
