Still a bit foggy to me , I can't  really process the whole drama that happened but OP, do you have a screenshot of how the prompt or Notification  looked like  so that other won't fall for such attempt possibilly in the futre because i think this seem new .
I never had to deal with order cancellation so I don't  know how it really works  a quote or maybe a screenshot  could go a long way , just saying .

Thanks OP for sharing your experience with us, nobody knows everything finish and for us wey never encounter such experience na opportunity for us to guide against am Incase marchants wan scam us for CEX p2p. My own experiences wey I don encounter be say di vendors go say make I release coins, if money never enter my account I go just ignore until I see money before I go release coins.

On one occasion wey I never see 'release coins' I ignore as usual, di guy called me say how far say im don pay but I tell am say I never see release coins before I go check my account. Im advice me to update my CEX app for play store, as I do am I come see release coins for di app, I check my account money don enter and I release am.

Scammers would always come up with ways to trick a trader who is unsuspecting and blindly trusts the system. I have been trading for sometime to know that before I confirm any transactions, I must first check my bank balance to be certain the amount paid in has reflected, otherwise I don't give a consent to proceed.
I also try to reduce the time limit of transaction from 30' to 15' and within this time frame, a trader must complete the sell/buy  order, otherwise, it gets cancelled automatically and then I choose another vendor.

This issue of those scammers has been popular these days. Before, only a few people were complaining about those vendors, but now it seems that the thing has become obvious since they are trying to scam everyone that wants to trade with them, and that’s why it’s good for us to be very careful when we come to P2P so that we won’t fall victim to them.

Yeah, some traders will tell you that they have made the payment and then ask you to release the coin, and sometimes if you want your banks to confirm the transactions, the money will not reflect until you chat with them before the money can reflect, so in this case if you were to say you’ve released the coin to them, that’s all your assets will just gone for nothing.

Na exactly as the situation of things be that time as you talk, so possibly the buyer possibly know because that time I been no dey stable and I come dey wonder how dem dey take dey know sometimes abi dem dey use jazz dey trade?  Because from the whole settings, e just be like the buyer know say I need the bills to sort things at that very moment.

The truth is as far as it concerns an exchange or P2P there will always be scam involved in one way or the other and the only way to stay safe is to be very conscious and understand exactly how to deal with these vendors else you fall a victim especially if you are in a hurry.

I’ve also taken it upon myself never to spare these scammers whenever I come across them. If I ever noticed the slightest bit of a move that depicts a scam attempt, I’ll not only make that trading experience frustrating for you, but I’ll equally give you the worst review others, so that others would actually see you for who you are, and if I ever see that merchant next time, I’ll kindly ignore and avoid you.

When it comes to trading via p2p, especially CEXs like Bybit and the likes of it, I’m always very careful I really don’t trust any of them buyers and sellers there. It’s as if every single day it’s one complain or the other, although I’m very cautious when I trade, which is why I barely trust encounter them there. The few I’ve encountered in the past did have a piece of me.

I remember back them when KuCoin was still supporting p2p for Naija, I made a trade with buyer, instead of paying to my OPay (which I clearly stated in my payment method) he sent it to palmpay, because it’s the same number, and I was having some issues with my palmpay, and the guy on the other end, instead of apologizing for his carelessness, he was claiming it’s still the same number and that I am the owner of the account, I deliberately decided to give him hell by filing a report against him, and the case was pended for several weeks, perhaps two months, before I asked KuCoin to release the coin to him.

You're right having an orientation about how p2p works is really a great idea, it will help a lot because the rate of scam in there is very alarming, I read people's complains almost everytime.

One thing I observe is that a person needs to very vigilant and shouldn't just ignore every little write up. Read and understand everything properly before clicking or approving anything there.

The time when I been they do like you na when I been they use binance as we been no they experience those kind matter there so I carry the belief enter another exchange as e be say binance matter done scater so whenever a buyer click paid and I see alert I use to hurry to release so that the person no go wait long for me, so waiting I they try talk be say if na this period way this buyers want to use the head of the sellers them for done run me street that time because of not checking so I was very lucky to have been meeting faithful and genuine person then.

Anything that involves money doesn't require you to be in a hurry or rush to do because if you are in a hurry or rush, you will likely make a mistake that you won't forget in a hurry. Scammers are getting wiser everyday, so we should be careful when performing a P2P trade and have the IQ to detect a possible scam so that we can easily avoid a scam. For me to confirm that my buyer didn't make a fake transfer to me, I used to transfer the money to my other personal account.

It is never advisable to engage in a p2p trade when you are not stable, as such a situation might cost you your assets if care is not taken. Actually, I was in a hurry to make sure I got the funds in time so I could balance up and sort what I had in my hands that day, but at some point, it dawned on me that I was making a transaction and what if I make a silly misatke looking at the fact that there was a delay in buyer paying as i was having that thougt the buyer dropped a mesage that he had made payment. So I dashed to my bank app, and I could not see anything. I thought it was a network issue, but it was not till the funny incident began that was when i knew he was a scammer and was lucky to have paused immediately, otherwise I would have likely lost my coin.

Na wetin dey normally happen be this wey dey sometimes be the cause of the major problem in p2p scam attempts, if you look closely well, such buyers will always message first on the message box and rush the whole transactions make you loss focus, then you easily release coin when you never even confirm well.

This methods is not something new anymore as I have also experienced this severally, what I does it that immediately I clicked sell I will messages the person who is to make payment to me and tell him till I received payment and alert through local bank I won't released any digital assets for him, then he will reply and say "expect to receive alerts sooner ' please if you do do as well to release my assets to me" then I will cool. So, it's very easier to interact with your buyer who wants to purchase your cryptocurrency. Realistically, Bybite is always scamming zone for P2P traders especially to new people who doesn't know how navigate the site they could victimized them.
