I've used Bitcoin for a while now but I never signed a message. I use multibit wallet. My question is if i sign a message do I put my own address or the person I am sending to address in the first top box? There is no cut and paste for some reason so I am unclear how and what your supposed to do.

The explanation here, number 4. is ambiguous, receiving address you are using? Their address or mine?

Step 1 says:

Quote
Select the wallet that contains your signing address in the 'Wallets' panel

So, from context, it would seem that when step 4 says:

Quote
Enter the receiving address you are using to sign in the 'Address' field.

it means "your signing address" from your wallet.

OK Cheers! I actually worked it out by sending a small amount to myself, it only lets you put your own address in. Why they wont let you cut and paste it I don't get but whatever..

Why they wont let you cut and paste it I don't get

Insufficient attention to detail when programming.

....

This is really a nuisance having to actually type in the address and then after having successfully signed
the message you can't copy/cut the signature so again you're condemned to transfer it manually character
by character out of the client. Angry Angry Angry

Or am I missing something ?  Huh Huh Huh

Edit: Ok my bad. You can still use keyboard shortcuts
        CTRL+C: Copy
        CTRL+X: Cut
        CTRL+V: Paste
