when did this happen?

i am sick and tired of bitcoin being dumbed down for the masses, this is just ridiculous, people need to learn how to be responsible for their bitcoin!

obviously i can find other ways to generate paper wallets but i wanted to show my mom how to use paper wallets and she uses coinbase. now it is much more difficult.

Use Mycelium, it has a sweet ass private key feature.

Have not logged into coinbase for a few days so i haven't noticed. If i had to guess it probably has something to do with government and compliance. I would not be surprised if guidelines started getting tight over there since they have been working hand in hand with regulators. I keep some btc there but have been contemplating moving it.

I asked support and they said the feature was temporarily disabled while they work on improving it.  False alarm!

They also emailed me back in less than an hour, from a real person.  Nice work Coinbase.

That's good to hear.   I still expect the "govermental" type changes to hit coinbase first and then trickle down to a lot of the other bitcoin businesses
