Hello, I'm a newbie miner trying to use Vertminer on Coinotron to run my GPU but I'm having some problems.

I downloaded the link and unzipped the files, then click on the Vertminer run icon and I get a small black DOS screen with this at the bottom:

Failed to resolve (?wrong URL) Pool 2:PORT
Failed to resolve (?wrong URL) Pool 1:PORT

Does anyone know how I can link it to my GPU?

register on vertcoin pool first , create workers and point your miners to it.

check this thread to have  idea of how mining configs look

Hi Equate,

I'm already registered on a Vertcoin pool on Coinotron. I have a wallet set up ready with them. I just don't know how to configure the miner to read to the pool there.

Also, I used GUI Miner for PPC and found you can just input all the necessary Ports and web address and it works fine.

Vertminer simply shows me a small DOS screen with errors.

It has to work.

The .conf file was blank and windows said it cannot read this file. I have various other blank sheet unreadable files. This seems to be the problem.

The .bat file was not found.

Why can't windows read them?

Just follow step by step
1 vertminer  https://www.dropbox.com/s/dfx474gasa7d2md/VertiKev.zip
2 Just read a little  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=466867.0
You have to set vertminer.conf and start.bat files after that you can start by clicking start.bat file

Why can't windows read them?
Right click on file / edit.
or use http://www.pcworld.com/article/2048848/notepad-offers-portable-notepad-features-for-programmers.html
or change extension from bat/conf to txt

Sadly after right-clicking on the .conf file there was no option to edit anything. I still don't see a .bat file either.

Hi, thank you for the help. I just got a friend to follow through the instructions and he understood it all.

Apparently if I just click on TheKeVKiCksASS then that is the .bat file I was missing. He also used the notepad helper to get it all going although I'm a bit non the wiser.

It seems the blank white sheet (windows cannot read file) was not really an issue.
