'Hi everyone !
Just like the title says, i am currently working on a project, a network/social/site similar to Facebook.

In the last few months i've been working on another project for a friend of mine, which gathers ideas from several social networks, but than i remembered Bitcoin, the news about NSA and other government surveillance programs. I realized that people need their privacy, or some sort anonymity on a social group. (I am not going into detail about this i will wxplain later on my post). So i decided to make my own project, a social network on which users can stay completely anonymous if they want to.

Since most of the email service providers require phone registration and other personal info, I though that on my site no email should be required. You have to choose a nickname just like the old days on mIRC.

If you want to keep that nickname just for you, and build a profile with friends and other stuff you just associate your nickname with a password. No email, no date of birth, no. . . nothing. You forget the password or the nickname, tough luck !

Now comes the Bitcoin part:the project almost 90% done, i want to "incorporate" ideas that could help the bitcoin community.

I am waiting for feedback and any idea that could make it better and more friendly!

PS: the site will not go through any onion router, so if you the user decide to stay untraceable, it is your your concern what proxy to use etc.

i am a little bit disappointed !
I had positive approach, but nothing about Bitcoin implementation on a bitcoin forum.
@bitsmichel: your idea and concern about the server raises big question mark on the future of this project.

I had other pm msg, and i don't know why are you hiding. Key of a public forum is free public debate.

I appreciate every thought. More ideas and feedback needed !

Some random ideas:

Show current btc prize
Allow trading (you could make it integrate an exchange?)
Allow online shopping in your network
Faucet inside the site
Lottery inside the site
Gambling inside the site

1. Show current btc prize - Bitprize.org does that, i don't wanna step on your toes Wink
2. Allow trading - very hard work
3. Allow online shopping - that would be great ! What kind of shopping ?
4. Faucet inside the site - i don;t know how it would fit, since the purpose of the network is to stay anonymous ?!
5. Lottery inside the site - when people will loose money/btc guess who is to blame ?
6. Gambling inside the site - same as above.

I appreciate your ideas, I will pm you !

We can already have lot of fake accounts on FB created with fake email IDs. So I dont get the concept of a new anonymous n/w. Moreover, there are already some anonymous boards in place, e.g. reddit, 4chan etc...

@BitCoinDream: I am pretty sure you didn;t read the terms&cond. of reddit and 4chan or had you ever used a fake phone no. to validate an email address.
Even so, i understand from your reply that you doubt my project. Feel free to question my views and my ideas.

Just posted this elsewhere:

Replace Facebook's "like" button with a "Tip µBTC" button. People that make good posts in your network can earn some BTC that way. Could be an incentive to create quality content in the Network.

Anyways. The idea sounds great and is a very welcome change to all the variants of casino and ponzi game sites popping up left or right which are mostly extremely unoriginal.

Another Idea to incorporate BTC could be using the message signing function of BTC public-private key pairs for registering a nickname.

If you want further advise: Besides explaining what BTC is and maybe an OPTION to display current BTC rates please just avoid any of the usual useless faucet and adclick stuff. It is dull and often makes your site look amateurish at best because of the stupid banners.

Edit:

If possible also avoid flooding your sites with ads and banners all over. If you must have ads place them intelligently and contextual. Facebook is advertsising the way it does for a reason after all.

Even just came up with a possible name for it: Facebit.com

@Chrithu: Unfortunately facebit.com has been taken, it would've been a great idea.
I am not gonna flood my site/network with ads and banners, actually i want to keep it as clean as possible, but as you can imagine i must have some income from to sustain it.
Anyway, "Replacing Facebook's "like" button with a "Tip µBTC" button" it's an awesome idea !
Thank you so much for sharing these promotion tips!

01zack you may be interested that facebook is introducing a monopoly kind of e-money in their site. full story on bitprize.org. You could add news groups to your network. not sure if fb has this  Smiley

I think for a name, you want something simple, memorable and non-technical.

I like this idea but how does it address contacts if the system is made to be anonymous like facebook
Aka I know X is this person and Y knows as well
Or is it more just make sure the NSA has no backdoor Smiley
