The Future Capital Bitcoin Future Fund is investing $30M USD in Bitcoin companies.
The venture capital firm Future Capital has announced the Future Capital Bitcoin Fund, a $30M international fund for investing in companies in the digital currency sector, making it Australia’s first dedicated Bitcoin investment fund. The FCBF will be seeking out, “companies facilitating payments, exchanges, trading and smart property rights,” led by Domenic Carosa, a digital entrepreneur and fund manager. Mr. Carosa spokeon the importance of Bitcoin:

The Austrailian fund is the latest in a series of big-money investors seeking profits in the digital currency sector, with numerous counterparts in theUnited States and Europe.

Investing in Bitcoin payment processors and smart-property rights and is a good way to ensure profits while eliminating the risk of losses due to price fluctuation.
The FCBF has no interest in gambling on price fluctuations but would rather invest in the infrastructure of the digital currency sector. Mr Carosa:
We view the emerging Bitcoin ecosystem as an investment opportunity that has transformative potential across a raft of social, technology-based and cultural applications and we see great scope for the broader adoption of Bitcoin and its related applications to redefine the global payment status quo.
While Caroso’s statements indicate that he does believe Bitcoin may be undervalued considering the protocol’s ultimate potential, they also highlight that the exchange rate or investment gain is not nearly as important as the “cultural applications” that can be developed from a decentralized trust system.
Mr. Caroso is one of a new class of Bitcoin investor, who recognizes that the greatest potential of Bitcoin is in its most basic feature, the ability to establish trust between two unrelated parties.
