Digital goods are vulnerable to piracy and copy.

Unless someone solve the piracy issues, the market will not be able to support the artist and author.
Maybe people making digital goods could invent something similar to DRM? Oh wait they did....

There are plenty of ways that content owners can manage their digital content

It is a behavioural issue.
More people are buying digital goods now, given that they are no longer overpriced.

Selling digital goods with Bitcoin is just about the only thing you can do through paypal (when trying to use BTC), to my knowledge at this point. 

They have integrated BTC (sort of)...
