So start making donations in bitcoins and politicans will have to accpet bitcoin as a legitimate currency.

The unintended consequence here is that once they start getting bitcoin as donations they are much less likely to support interfering with it. Also the first truly pro bitcoin candidate will get a flood of contributions from the community. I am hoping Rand Paul will be the first to experience this.
