Hi all!!!

I have an old mining rig that I want to use more effectively. It has 5 cards. Two rx 470 with 4gb and 1 Rx 580 with 8 gb. Currently the rig is mining RVN.

What I want, is to mine with the 8gb card ETH and with 4gb cards to mine RVN.

I heard it is somehow possible, but I did not find any solutions. Can you please help me with that? Or at least show me where to read, or what to look at?

Thanks!

For example, you have 5 cards in your farm: 0 1 2 3 4.
0-3 are RX 470 4GB graphics cards
4 this is an RX 480 with 8GB
If you are working on Windows, then you run 2 miners.
One miner works with video cards 0 1 2 3, another miner uses only video card number 4.
You will need more RAM.
Here is an example of mining ETH and RVN on one farm
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhyvKXj4vYs
Russian, but I think you will understand how it is configured.

Hi, thanks for your help. I have read  about selecting the only cards to work, but I could not configure it to the end.

So, for RVN, I use the Nbminer. I have set the value "-d 0,1,2,3" and it excluded the 8gb card from mining. All works grate.

As for the ETH, I use the Phoenix Miner. The miner works grate, but if I change the config file, and add the value "-gpus 4" (tried 5, tried <4>, tried <5>, and other ways) the card is not being selected alone. Also with this value added, the miner crashes, and the rig restarts, regardless if Phoenix is working alone or together with the Nbminer.

I had the same problem with 2 1050TI's for RVN and 2 Vega 64's for ETH. The problem was with Phoenix i think. When i started Phoenix with -amd. The Nbminer just wouldn't start (the script locks up). I ended up with 2 machines, as it was to frustrating for me.

Try to do it like in the video. The first miner is ethminer for the Ethereum coin, the second miner is t-rex for RVN.
If you have any questions, then ask them in this thread:

I have not tried this on my farm, so I know this question only from theoretical experience.

ok turn off nbminer and run phoenix with -bench then look cards 1,2,3,4,5 when you choose correct it should work. 1 of my rigs i have 4g and 8g. i use teamredminer and phoenix. TRM like this --device 1,4 but in phoenix -gpus 1,3,4,6,7,8,9 as you can see they can be different. im using like this many months now no issue.

Use Teamred (amd only miner) for AMD and ETH and T-Rex (nvidia only miner) for RVN. Phönixminer use other paramaters to sort the gpu´s and so lots of people have problem to set the right devices.

What other miner you recomand to use only for the ETH mining on the Rx 580 8gb card?

Teamredminer, best miner for AMD in my opinion, it show realhashrate, poolside hashrate is higher than phönix.

I have installed TRM. It works, but the cards are not being selected. I used -d 4 and it did not help. After this I used --device 4 and it did not help.

Weird I have 6 mixed rigs 4/8 GB cards and it works.
Launch list-device in the same directory of trm  and figure out at what position TRM see the your 8gb ---- X---
insert
-d x -d"space"x
and it doesn't work ?

If not start TRM mining RVN with ALL the card
This works?

The list-device.bat file showed the 8gb card is under number 4.

The -d 4 command I use with space, and all cards are mining 🤔

I haven't fully understood why you say its not mining but...

please write in your bat file

after trm   algos wallet pool  etc

insrt an empty line

pause

in that way you can see what TRM  is reporting if it crash

Can you post your device list here both trm and phoenix?

Well ... I figured it out. My mistake was that I was not starting the bat file or exe file with admin rights. I do not know why this is important, but now all works fine. And it works with Phoenix and with TRM as well.

Thx all for your help and support!
