Ha, theymos likely has more important things to do and I'm not going to pester him with this stuff. I'm sure he will see these threads where people keep requesting it and take note. He has commented on one of these topics before so I hope it happens, but let's just wait for the new forum or the beta update first. It can always be implemented at a later date.
Given enough time I could probably make a third-party system for BitcoinTalk.org tipping by making a system which listens for registered users' posts and scan them accordingly for phrases like "^tip 60 bits Vortex20000", first checking if the tipper has enough, then checking if "Vortex20000" exists, then doing the relevant deduction/addition.

However, this defeats the purpose of ChangeTip.com as you would have to have a separate account and all...

But that would need a Bitcointalk wallet, right? So if there is any hacking or similar and if Bitcoins are lost, that would create big problems and some may tell it was done deliberately. Roll Eyes I think it is better to use Changetip. Smiley

Bitcointalk wallet?

Basically you would have to trust a service, say Bitcointalktip, with your money, just like you trust Changetip with your money. It would be possible for a 2-3 multisig address with theymos, BadBear, and someone else (hilarious?) to be made to store most of the funds of this service, but yes, you will have to trust the hot wallet operator (the system, in this case) with your funds.

It would be possible for trusted members of the community to review the code, though (minus sensitive info, like SQL db passwords).

I think a large amount of the tips will be a tiny amount. So the funds don't rely matter. But then,  this forum is  huge  350k+ members!  Maybe a crowd funding would help in security implementations

I think Theymos won't implement it.

I've thought about that before, but I think that there might be legal problems with that. It might make the forum a "money transmitter".

Surely not with changetip? Could that not just be implemented? I think I'd like to see this feature as long as it didn't cause any problems like people have already mentioned.

I think adding changetip itself to the site would work without having to be a money transmitter. Maybe just don't make it a site function, that way a third party is taking care of all the actual bitcoin movement.

But I can understand Theymos reservation with not implementing it.
