TL;DR: Would you contribute to pay a Chilean promo team to get restaurants to accept Bitcoin on a success basis?

Chileans don't trust Gringos
Promotion works via trust and Chileans don't trust Gringos. I want to get Chileans on the team and I have some contacts that I guess would be excellent to get restaurants into bitcoin. With this post I hope to raise some funds to pay them on a success basis with a declining premium for success as after the first success, it's an easier sell.

How much would it cost?
I contacted 90 shops and restaurants in Viña, Valparaíso, Santiago and Reñaca with paper wallets and about 50 conversations that went on for more than half an hour and could not win one shop to take bitcoin. Chile so far has one bar that accepts bitcoin in Santiago but it is a hard sell and I would definitely guess the first success of this promo team would deserve $150. Granting the follow ups $100 would put the first 10 restaurants to cost $1050. An actual promoter here told me her wage and it was $2.50/h although I would feel bad if they would end up earning such a ridiculous low wage as life in Chile is very expensive.
I would mobilize the team if $1000 of donations are met as getting things going with flyers in Spanish and teaching the 2-3 girls that showed interest would not be worth it for just an ultra short promo.

How do promoters qualify to collect the reward?

• The restaurant has to accept bitcoin for at least a full month on any day the restaurant is open.
• The restaurant has to be open 6/7 days.
• The restaurant should be mentioned as such somewhere on the internet before 2014 (if there is no better criteria to prevent some private person from cooking for her promoter grand child).
• It should be in Viña, Valparaíso or Reñaca which is the main touristic region in the 5th region of Chile.
• We will advertise the restaurant throughout that first month and invite the local community to try it out and report if there were any issues.

What happens if goals are not met?

Actual real verifiable places they can spend their bitcoins on this map: http://www.coinmap.org/ as it would not be an hourly rate but a success-based thing

I would gather promoters, teach them for as long as it takes, educate the restaurants that they identify as willing to take bitcoin on security and the options to convert to CLP and finally if the restaurants actually take bitcoins as confirmed by others of the local bitcoin community (yeah, I would send all 5(ok, maybe 200) of them to these places) I would pay the promoters. I would report back to the forum and reddit etc.

Check my history here on the forum. I make no secret of my name being Leo Wandersleb. I spent far far more on advertising Bitcoin than $1000 even if you only paid me $2.5 per hour talking to random strangers. I was at many conferences and meetings and organized the first Bitcoin conference here in Viña June last year. If you really think I would beg for $1000 to run away with it, well so be it. For me that would be a liability as I would have to deliver and if I don't deliver I would have to have good book keeping to pay back all money that was not spent to promotion.

Just asking about the trust only a fool considers a business venture without considering the risk first. Good details though

Re-wrote the OP to hopefully get some replies. Am I doing it completely wrong? Please tell me as 200 reads and just one person replying is a bit frustrating when offering to spend dozens of hours and money on a project like this.

Yeah, well, I contacted coin4ce to get them on board, too as they would benefit of bitcoin adoption in Chile with their Chilean exchange but I thought there were more idealists around that would not only invest on a one month ROI but also into educating the other 6 billion.

You are probably sick of hearing from me .... so last post. It just seems like bitcoins in South America aren't "ready" yet, so you are asking for donations rather than offering business opportunity. And as you know, people generally hate making donations and love business opportunities. If you can turn the former into the latter, you will get lots of people replying.

Yes, I ask for donations. I spend my bitcoins and my time on this and think others should too. Bitcoin will become big no matter what. The window of opportunity to shut it down is gone. But we can influence where the journey goes. Even if you believe in conspiracies about some mysterious country pulling off this whole bitcoin thing, with that country trying to acquire the biggest share of the future currency of the world for themselves, they can't have more than 50% up to now and if Bitcoin adoption happens faster than they thought, fiat will collapse faster, spoiling their evil plan or they have to buy slower leaving more to people who don't know that this game is rigged. This conspiracy is my worst fear and I hope Satoshi reveals himself to be some very ethical good guy but I'm almost sure the truth is somewhere in between these two extremes.

And by the way I don't mind you posting here. If you read the post searching for a business opportunity I'm sorry I can't offer that but your contribution is welcome.
