THIS IS A NEW THREAD FOR ALPHACOIN.
The original thread was not being maintained by the original developer.
This resulted in many broken links in the first post.
Please use this thread from now on. I will maintain the first post.
If you have pools that you want listed, please send me a PM with the info and I'll add them.

The newest alt coin - AlphaCoin has arrived! Alphacoin is a clone from Litecoin, using scrypt.

Version 1.1 released, more checkpoints, more secure! Download the new client below. Fixed the Litecoin message issue.

Specifications:

- 30 seconds block target
- 4 confirms per transaction. So every transaction will be confirmed in 2 mins.
- Difficulty retargets every 30 mins, that is every 60 blocks. Also using accelerated retargets at the beginning to completely avoid instamining.
- Total 210,182,000 coins.
- To encorage early adoption the coins per block is high for the first 3 days (block time):
   - 1st day: 500 coins per block
   - 2nd day: 200 coins per block
   - 3rd day: 100 coins per block
   - Starting 4th day, it will be 50 coins per block, will be halved every two years (or 2073600 blocks).
- First 1000 blocks of 1000 coins each are premined. This
is used for bounty of various needs. Also the 1000 blocks
   are used for checkpoints.
- connection port is 9538, RPC-port 9539
- Scrypt

I guess not. That's a good point. I think it's time that we make one. I'll work on this. BTW, if anyone want to submit some new logo ideas, let's go with that as well. Might as well start improving that branding on this coin.

If you guys want, post a few logo submissions and we'll vote on them. Whatever wins, we'll go ahead and rebrand the coin. It's time to get rid of that horrible green monstrosity the founder came up with. I'd be happy to throw some coins at the creator of the logo that is eventually picked as the winner. FYI - just make sure it's original artwork and not something picked off of google images. We don't want another copyright fiasco like Coinye. hehe

Also, if one of you guys have time, can someone put together a table of alphacoin pools with comparison stats? I think something like this would be better than the crappy list above from the original thread.

Once this stuff is all taken care of, we can start talking about creating a site to promote merchant integration and possibly forking the source code to bring in some new devs. Wink

Anyone know what's going on with http://alf.smalltimeminer.com/ pool? It disconnected at about 5:30 Am EST and I have not been able to connect to the web site or any mining.

Here are a few potential logos. I hereby release these into the public domain. The font is OpenSymbol. The second, "3D" coin is based on this free vector: http://www.clipartsfree.net/svg/21021-euro-coin-download.svg.
Personally I prefer the first logo because it more closely matches up with the existing style for Bitcoin and probably scales better.

Direct link to the vectors themselves: https://mega.co.nz/#!8hgkUATB!ap1DG8bhbpcfUS4M1ZUb7iLDcvG4_LJ1IJN8JQIzNe8

If you want to toss some coin my way, that's awesome, but don't feel obligated. I don't have any alphacoin, but I'd like to see this crypto go the distance.

Alphacoin is long gone. Nobody has been able to get a hold of him in months. If we&re going to update the client I fear that we&re going to have to fork the source code.

Stop with this dead coin, Join the Globalcoin community.

It has a better name

It is actively developed

The two coins were both made in June of 2013

Globalcoin has 70 million total coin as opposed to 210 million with Alpha

They are almost the same price, at the moment.  Will not stay that way.
