This is actually a very significant development, and I am surprised that there is no jump in the Bitcoin exchange rates.  Angry

Verotel is having more than 50,000 online Businesses as their clients.

Thanks Verotel for adding bitcoin as a payment option! How much extra does it cost to pay through your service instead of paying with ordinary cash.

What is Verotel?

Website seems confusing... but perhaps it's because I'm not a developer..

Also, until this is picked up by the press, shouldn't this announcement be in another section?

What is Verotel?

Verotel is a payment processing site, having more than 50,000 clients.  Grin It is mostly used by the adult sites, to make sure that the users' identity is protected while they are paying their subscription fee.

It's not at all surprising that btc is entering this sector. It is an obvious candidate for buyers who want to retain privacy and finally completes the holy DGP trinity.

It will be interesting to see how many merchants take up the btc option. The obvious attraction for them is that Verotel only charge 1% rather than their standard 15% on the first transaction.

The disadvantage will be the lack of a recurring membership option, which is a major way for this particular "sector" to make money.  And of course if they want to hedge their currency risk, they will need a bitpay type arrangement.

Very interesting development though. I suspect a lot of sites will take it up.

Recently Visa / Master had blocked their services to a large number of porn-related business. Even some of the actors had their credit cards blocked. So it was only a matter of time, before the porn industry shifted to some other means of payment.

Who pays for porn?

... probably the same people who don't know about the internet?

A lot of people pay for porn, especially for the live chats and other interactive stuff. And some of the porn sites, such as Brazzers and DigitalPlayGround, rake in tens of millions of USD every year in subscription.
