I consider underclocking / undervolting my antminers. This should enable two antminers to run on one PSU. Problem is that my PSUs only have two PCI-E connectors.

May I use some of the other connectors? Can I cut off the end of the CPU connector and connect three of the yellow cables and three of the black cables to the corresponding slots on the miners?

First of all, can your PSU power both? I have 2 on a Corsair 1kw, overclocked to 375 frequency and added 4 more fans. Meter shows around 840 watts at the wall draw.
If it can power both, why not buy adapters and save the splicing/cutting?

While not directly related, I had 2 ASICMiner cubes running off one 850W PSU (each cube was 330W) so you will probably be able to do it.

I have an LED 12VDC 30A power supply powering each blade.
Power draw at the wall varies from 460-475 Watts with the pair..

I'm thinking that these will be a much better alternative to conventional PC power supplies that need to generate 5V and 3.3V.
So far I've been using these for two weeks with my dual blade S1 and have had no problems whatsoever with it being overclocked to 393.
The fans cycle on and off as needed.
I've tried them in other positions but they seem to stay coolest as they are.
My little wood enclosure directs the air well enough with a secondary pull fan and the blade temps range from 40-46*.

I do have heat sinks on all of the chips and regulators, which probably helps.

The power supplies cost about $28 each.  They seem to be perfectly suited to the task, have an adjustable voltage regulator, and are less than $60 a pair for a dual blade S1.

Consider that buying a pair of these is going to be cheaper than any PC power supply...let's do some simple math.
Single S1 dual blade - $60 power supply pair.
Dual S1 Dual Blade - $120 power supply quad.
Triple S1 Dual Blade - $180 power supply sextet.

you are wasting 60 watts to run that machine.

if you buy an evga 1300 watt supernova g2   it runs 3 ant miner s-1s at 393 freq 600 gh and pulls 1215 watts. or about 405 watts for 1 s-1.

you can buy an evga for 195 today and get back   a 10 dollar rebate so you spend 185  for 3 s-1's

the psu

the rebate

http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/00/00/53/38/59/12/5338591210._V336191023_.pdf

10 year warranty      you would use 1410 watts to run 3 ants and spend  180 plus wires.

the evga you spend 185 after rebate and all wires included and about  5 k-watts a day in power saved   for me that is 16 cents x 5 = 80 cents a day  so in 6 days I have my money back.

BTW nice case idea for the miner

Nice!
The fun part is calculating what it would take for a single dual blade machine like mine and seeing how long it takes to make up for the $185 cost of the eVGA power supply as opposed to the $56 I paid for the slightly less efficient pair.

Once you hit three S1 dual blade units, the eVGA is a no-brainer as it's much more efficient but for those of us on a single blade, the LED supplies may be a better deal even with the slightly higher power use.

Thanks for the compliment on the case.
The idea is I needed headroom for the wires but needed to direct the bulk of the cooling through the main neat sinks.  The back isn't finished, I'm using the tape as a temporary test to see how the heat extraction works.
It seems to be doing well, so I'm going to add a hinged back to keep the airflow more directed through the main heat sinks.

You can get one of the DPS-800GBA 850 / 1000 Watt Server PSU's and a Brakout board for it for $67 shipped and then use regular size 14 AWG wire and easily power two ant S1's on any clock speed.

I dont get it, which machine are you referring to? I didn't see him running any extra machine other then the KWH tester..

In that wooden enclosure is my Antminer S1 Dual Blade overclocked to 393.
He's saying that the two power supplies I'm using, with the draw shown on the KWH tester, is drawing about 60 Watts more than a more efficient power supply.

Does anyone have the Corsair 1500w:

AX1500i Digital ATX Power Supply — 1500 Watt Fully-Modular PSU

1500 Watts of continuous power, an incredible 94% efficiency rating, and Corsair Link desktop monitoring control make the incredible AX1500i the best enthusiast PC power supply you can own.

$449.99 USD

Do you think that I could run 4 Antminer S-1's? or should should I just run 3 on the Corsair AX1200i Digital ATX Power Supply — 1200 Watt Fully-Modular PSU.

Is anyone running  3 Antminer S1's on the Corsair AX1200i Digital ATX Power Supply — 1200 Watt?

as per S3 message board, you can connect molex (4 pin connectors) through 4 pin to 6 pin adapters to PCIe slots.
I have never done this so far, but plan to try with S3 9 I also have CX500M which have only 2 PCIe connectors.
S1 undervolted should be just 200W, right?

I have 3 running at 560 watts  total  with 420gh total

so 180 to 200 with 140gh    is a good estimate.

note I use a evga 1300 watt gold psu.   on sale here

I had 15 S1s between 5 AX1200i - zero problems. Sold them all off in the spring as thermal management was going to be an issue.

I have 8 overclocked (@ 400 MHz) S1s running on 4 power supplies (2 per supply). Using Corsair 850RM to run each pair. No problems. Comes with all the cables you need and since modular, you only plug in the ones you need.
