NXT isn't even open source , and was distributed to 50 people.

Bitcoin will be leading the market atleast for few years more so it's just "competition" not competition at all.

I think it will be interesting to watch the whole crypto market mature.

Will bitcoin completely dominate the market as Google does search?

Will bitcoin be just one niche of crypto ie wealth storage?

Will there be a 'silver' to 'gold'?

Will anything truly challenge bitcoin itself; bitcoin can potentially just integrate any functional edge

Will we have multiple coins stored in a mixed coin wallet, where we can choose our payment coin?

There's a lot happening in the altworld, will make good viewing.

Well it doesn't hurt to always be aware of the field
Aka who your competition is and what they are up too anyways guess it was a bit interesting for an article but more depth was needed.
