Now that the internet is essentially compromised (http://blog2.easydns.org/2012/02/29/verisign-seizes-com-domain-registered-via-foreign-registrar-on-behalf-of-us-authorities/ )
I am wondering if we could re purpose bit coin to secure DNS. The idea is that the domain is the currency and the transfers to IPs are akin to the currency changing hands.

In this way we can digitally secure a domain name.

Just a thought.

If you want to try namecoin (one way of using it) :
http://dot-bit.org/How_To_Install_Dns_Suffix

Then, go to http://bodog.bit :p (only after your computer is configured, otherwise you will cache the "domain not found" and will need to wait)

You can view '.bit' websites using this proxy website - http://www.bitviewer.net/
