Am I correct in thinking that the Full Bitcoin Core wallet is the best, most secure wallet for Bitcoin? If so, can someone send me a link to a thread on it?  Does anyone recommend another wallet besides the Bitcoin Core wallet.

I'm actually using Jaxx and I am not interested in moving towards Jaxx Liberty.  But, I don't know which way to go.

I was thinking about a dedicated portable computer or virtual image for my wallets.

Thanks

I honestly trust hardware wallet in securing my bitcoin and other altcoin than storing it in any online wallet. As long as you keep your own private key and seed phrase offline, your funds are safe.

You’ve got the link to Bitcoin Core right at the top left of this page (where it says News).
Anyhow, If you can afford it, a hardware wallet is safe and easy to manage (i.e. no need to download and maintain over 200GB of data if you intend to run a full node just for your BTC (and only BTC) wallet).

Jaxx, Exodus, and Coinomi can all be convenient while storing multiple currencies but they're far from being safe and secure, they're not even open source.

Bitcoin core is a good choice but If you're not interested in running a full node, then maybe using a more lightweight wallet like Electrum is better.

But since you are willing to put your funds into a dedicated computer, I'm going to assume the amount is large and in that case, nothing can beat a hardware wallet (Ledger nano S or Trezor) in terms of security.

I believe in a cold wallet because it can be the complete offline wallet. When your wallet is offline, you no longer have to worry about any attack done by the hackers. Just remember that you need to protect and keep your crucial private sequence secure.

If you worry too much about your currency you can use a cold wallet, or if your wallet is connected to the Internet try using strong passwords and using binary authentication.

if u fine with downloading 100gb node for bitcoin core thats fine , Electrum is the most established of the three Bitcoin wallets, electrum By default underpins bech32 SegWit addresses, yet it can likewise accept the new concept P2SH SegWit addresses, giving clients an assortment of wallet types to look over. What's more, Electrum clients can trade their wallet to other Bitcoin wallets utilizing their electrum seed phrase , enabling them to rapidly move their portfolio between wallets on the off chance that they decide to, its significantly more advantageous and progressively lightweight/very little problem to use.

ive personally using it about 2 yrs from now on , and im not recommoend paper wallet

I don't think that it would be wise to encourage others to use it because other really good wallets like Electrum were made specifically to solve the needs users might have when using one and they are constantly working on improving it. You will encounter a lot less bugs and have a lot easier life using it.

Hardware wallets are second one in security but first in security/convenience balance. Cold wallet is hodler and you won't lose the piece of paper.

Using Jaxx will be fine for you and other people as Jaxx is one of the good bitcoin wallets, and I use it too Grin
If you want to use Bitcoin Core, then you can download it from the left upper as DdmrDdmr and boyptc said and start to sync the wallet with the network.
Besides using Jaxx, I use Mycelium and Coinomi too as I save some of the altcoins in that wallet and of course, Ledger S Nano Grin

I personally use Electrum and our local wallet in securing and storing my holdings. I find electrum safer than any exchanges and wallets. Also, I trust our local wallet because it has been providing secured and good services for years.
Securing our holdings in a safer wallet is really necessary.

Bitcoin Core is for those who wish to create their own node and help the network. Also, it requires you to run your machine 24 hrs a day in order to not get a lot of backlogs for syncing. SPV wallets like Electrum, IMO is the best all around, lightweight wallet that can accommodate the actual needs of a regular/normal bitcoin user. Its security is also good as long as the machine being used by the user is secure to the core.

If you have good internet and a computer dedicated to store your wallet, you can use core wallet
You can use Electrum, it's a very good wallet, and reliable

In any case above, the only person responsible for your safety, is YOU

If you have a large amount of money, it's better to buy a hardware wallet

Yes for me it is also the best way to secure our crypto funds ,
The hardware wallets are so easy to use and understand and it is safe from hackers,
It seem's impossible for a hacker to access your hardware wallet unless they have your hardware wallet and know your pass code or if they have the copy of your seed phrase.

You're not exactly wrong. The reference client is a full Bitcoin wallet which downloads and verifies the entire blockchain. Given so, the wallet can be sure that they are on the blockchain for which the blocks and transactions follows the protocol rules. Hence, it does not need to trust anyone else to run,

With SPV clients like Electrum, they rely on another node to provide the information. With how Electrum works, it uses an ElectrumX server to get all the information and cross verify them with 8 other Bitcoin nodes. Whilst this is secure enough, Electrum is still susceptible to sybil attacks. Since the client does not validate all the blocks and transactions, it is possible (though very expensive) for a few malicious clients to fabricate information to scam you. For the average joe, this is unlikely as the client usually connects itself to diverse nodes and a single honest node could break the attack.

Bitcoin Core wallet isn't bad at all but you're oblige to sync it that will take you sometime, since I knew something about Bitcoin wallets I started using Electrum wallet and so far so good because I've never experience any trouble ever. Just don't choose an online wallet though if you want a much safer place to your funds, holding your own seed and private keys is a must.

Bitcoin Core is a good choice, but it needs a lot of resources and maintenance. There is nothing wrong with having a mix between desktop wallets and web wallets and storing small amounts of coins on exchanges and using hardware wallets and paper wallets for long-term secure storage.

I find that several wallets distribute the risk of losing all your coins in one hack and that accessibility and convenience force you to use some implementations with weaker security. <You just make sure not to store large amounts of coins in services with weaker security.>  Wink

of course, Bitcoin Core  wallet is the most secure and best wallet can use, only taking the consideration that you can handle its size because I would like to use something much more flexible and easy to handle like portable wireless security is also very important to consider but still we are humans and we need a comfortable environment. As for as lightweight wallets are considered they have less security yet making the hardware wallets much more of a better choice. Still, if you can afford a bitcoin core wallet then go for it.

It's one of the best wallet you could use but I have to agree with some of the users said above there are other wallets that are better and less heavy than core in some way like the hardware wallets. And if you don't want to spend money on a wallet there's other good desktop wallets too like Electrum, Wasabi, Armory, GreenAddress and many more.
