hello everyone - just wondering how many people here use linux and how many of you customize/remaster your distros for use for bitcoin.

after hearing on bitcoins and gravy about using i linux distro to gen offline cold wallets ,
i wanted to share the one i use , so i remade it and recorded on video how to make a  remastered knoppix 7.2 to use has a bitcoin distro ,
( so people can make there own version without having to trust my version)

i used knoppix 7.2 (cd) because its light weight and i can install it on a usb thumb drive with sha256 encryption( this means you need a password to bootup the os) ,
it allows me to have a computer for bitcoin use without having to buy another laptop, also can use has a live dvd.

(warning never send coins to a wallet you do not have backed up on paper(using electrum recomended ))

this is the video 1hr20mins  on how i made the .iso using VB
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHZZCi1iOuo
i took a shortcut by placing some of the files i needed on a .zip file and uploading it to a website for me to download later when making the .iso
(this saved time and made the video shorter)

more info on what was on the .zip file can be found here on remasteros.com also the end .iso from the video
http://remasteros.com/showthread.php?1013-how-to-remaster-knoppix

there are some bugs , sometimes when you bootup knoppix 7.2 on a live dvd or if installed on a hd the window boarder's are not there ,
you can still switch around the windows by using the superkey + tab or alt +tab  or just restart. ( think its a compiz thing , but not sure )

also when unmounting a 2nd usb thumb drive i get the error 'Not Authorized' this is not that big a deal has long has you have the thumb drive you are unmounting/ejecting is open on the file explorer , has the window will breakup (compix style ) when it is safe to remove the 2nd thumb drive , if the window does not breakup then there may still be data being written to the thumb drive and if you remove it you may corruption the data being written to the thumb drive.
(this happens on the remastered version , and i am not sure why)

also knoppix 7.2 (cd) did not have drivers for the wifi cards on some of the laptops i have tested it out on.

my version is far from perfect and is still really in the idea's stage , i am not a linux pro by any means i just like to tinker.

if you can make a better bitcoin distro , then PLEASE share.
