Why is the 4 day time period too long for you?
Coinbase offers a lot of security that you may benefit from and may be worth the wait. I completely agree with others that it's technically not a wallet, it's like a bank. When you put your money in a bank your exact money isn't put in a safe with your name it, but it's lumped in with the banks assets and they use it to pay other people out or pay interest or pay for expense, etc. A bank account is just an IOU. Banks offer lots of security. So does Coinbase. Don't forget that aspect of all of this.
