Well, Mt Gox seemed like the answer to my problem. Ok, just simply make an account there and set up this liberty mutual jazz. Oh what's that? I have to buy libertymutual fun money through another site (most of which look like websites from the 90's). Alright, well let's fund it with PayPal that will be easy! Oh, nope. Only a few exchangers take PayPal and hardly anyone buys! Not to mention every step of the way there is a fee.

What in the world are we to do? Is there an easier way somewhere that I'm not being told about? There has to be a simpler and safe way to trade bitcoin for money.

You find a more direct way via Bitcoin-OTC.  Forget PayPal, forget LR (which personally I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole).  There's still Bitcoin2CC, and there are still people willing to exchange Bitcoin for services.

In short, while the shutdown of Paypal-based services is a drawback, it's not the end of the world.  Bitcoin will survive.

EDIT 2:  edited to remove me being a dick for no reason.  My apologies.

I have made some good and fast deals at bitmarket.eu .
I don't know how it is in the States or Asia but in Europa you can send wire transfers without paying fees. So one fall back on a platform where only deals are brokered and bitcoins transferred. The fiat can be exchanged directly using wire transfer, direct paypal or cash changing hands.
You could use OTC for that i guess, but for the most users it just to complicated with the GPG and the IRC. But i find bitmarket.eu very easy and inviting to use. Add the trust system in an automated way (like ebay: please rate the last transaction) and you're there.

I'm missing something.  CoinCard was (and will be again, according to mndrix's plans) a method for selling your bitcoins (though no longer redeemed through PayPal).

Are you confusing CoinPal (buying bitcoins, but sadly, now closed indefinitely) with CoinCard?

Bitcoins IS money.  If you don't understand that, then you've failed to understand the primary purpose of Bitcoin to begin with.

I tried Bitcoin-otc, and while it was and arduous task to set up all the GnuPG stuff, I got it basically set. What still bothers me is, even with all of that it's just not as quick and safe as.
Thanks for the bitcoin2cc link, seems like a pretty good conversion ratio, I'll look into it.

Also, no need to get pissy there. You know what I meant. Bitcoin is a novel concept for many of us after all. Being a US resident, I use the word "money" interchangeably for USD, it's a habit.

Alright, so CoinPal is closed for good it seems. But he is going to bring back Coincard in some manner right? Similar to the way Bitcoin2CC works it looks like? I missed the part where he said he would bringback coincard.

Thanks for the help people.

Ubitex will likely become very important with the shutdown of Coinpal and Coincard.

One question about bitcoin2cc.

The FAQ metnions

Quote
Do they work with PayPal/Amazon?

Yes.

I can see it working with amazon just fine. But what do they mean by working with paypal? Does that mean I can fund my paypal account with the virtual visa card, or just fund a transaction with it. I've used paypal for quite some time and haven't noticed this at all.

You might also want to check out my exchange services, I can cash out via PayPal, but I cannot process incoming transactions. My Marketplace thread is here: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=6223.0

I can also get you Liberty Reserve and any other ecurrencies you may need.

I don't get all the craze with paypal.

For small amonts, just mail cash to Madhatter, it's not difficult:

https://www.bitcoin4cash.com/

NanaimoGold offers bitcoins for cash deposit in US or Canadian bank. It costs nothing and pretty much instant.

Also check out something called Western Union, alot of people are taking it.

Also your bank should offer "wire". Use that for large amonts. Mtgox offers instant deposit through wire.

Seriously, Paypal is shit, and should be dead and rotting in hell like Osama.

Open your minds up to other forms of payment that doesn't make an exchanger's life hell, like Paypal, in terms of chargebacks, and makes your life hell, in terms of random freezing and verification.

I am starting to think that most of these people whining about Paypal are trolls...Bitcoin is not going to die just because people in US can't buy it with their credit cards/paypal anymore.  Roll Eyes

They just have to explore paypal alternative like the rest of us that can't get Paypal accounts.

I think most of us are talking about BTC-->USD, not the other way around.

I personally enjoy Paypal's service, and it was a very quick and convenient way of having immediate access to funds generated from bitcoins.

I´ve made a list with alternatives to Paypal, to have an overview. http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7069.0, IMHO there are enough good alternatives to Paypal, and I like the idea of bitmarket.eu. I think the combination of the bitmarket concept with some of these cashout services will work fine.

You're right, and I apologize for being a dick unnecessarily.  I was a bit drunk when I made the post, though that's no excuse.  I've edited my post to remove the stupidity.
