For more on what I'm talking about view this device here:

It's $100 and I'm seriously thinking about getting one to monitor or control temperature in the event of an AC failure this summer. I figured at $100 it will pay for itself in a few days, however I wanted to know if anyone else was already doing this and if they had a cheaper solution for remote temperature monitoring without relying directly on the computer doing the mining itself to relay temperature.

Not sure what you want it to do if the temps go up....

GPU temps will also tell you when the A/C goes out.
Some of the mining software/packages can increase fans, downclock GPUs, or shutdown if the temps go to high.  Packages like BAMT can also notify you..

I see the value of Bitcoin, so I don't worry about the price...

I'd want it to shut down the operation entirely. I'm talking about a temperature sensor for the room itself, something separate from the GPUs.

How are you going to shut the operation down?

Either remotely by logging in or automated via script that watches to see if the Twine attempts to send an email.
