I just changed my email address, and when I tried withdraw money via mtgox redeemable code, this is the error message I get:

Quote
The email address linked to your account has been changed recently. Please retry later.

How long do I have to wait until I can withdraw? I need to withdraw to pay someone right away. Why did it not send me an email confirmation to validate my email instead of forcing me to wait for an unknown amount of time?

Same reason a lot of financial sites have a delay when critical info is changed. To allow time for a compromised owner to contact them.

Edit: Was there no mention of the delay when requesting the change? If so that is a bit sloppy on Mtgox's part.

No, they did not tell me that if my email was changed, it would delay any withdrawings. And after I changed my email, I also did not get any notifications so I can't even confirm that I'm truly the owner of the emails/accounts. There was also no mentions of how long I'd have to wait. So basically I'm in the dark, hence I'm making this thread to ask those questions.

I really don't get why a lot of these internet companies don't leverage the communication ability inherent to the system. Is it that hard to add some text, send an email, send a pm, etc.? BTC Guild clearly warns you that if you alter key information then payout is locked for x (24?) hours.

Yes, if I knew that if I changed anything on my account that it would lock up all my funds, then I would have made the transactions first, then changed my info. Mtgox, can you at least tell me how long my funds are locked up?

In case any of you are still wondering, the policy that wasn't explicitly stated is no money/BTC is allowed to be withdrawn within 24 hours of an email (or possible other info) changes. Here are their exact words:

Quote
Mt.Gox Support, Apr 10 15:10 (JST):

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, the hold is for 24 hours after changing your email address for security reasons. Please wait 3 more hours until your hold is lifted from our system. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks,

MtGox.com Team

I've read about that 24 hour wait before a withdrawal can occur before, I was sure that I saw it in the T&Cs, Privacy Policy or the FAQ but I can't find it.
