started mining a week ago, don't see any deposits. is it becuz of this?

Ok,

I started mining with eligius, and as per the site, i'm suppose to have coins in my address.  But i don't see anything yet.

But there is one thing..i haven't downloaded all the blocks yet with my Bitcoin Core app....is that the reason? i have about 1 year and 22 weeks left.

Look at your stats in Eligius.  Does it say you've been paid?  If yes, then you'll just need to wait for things to finish synchronizing locally.  If not, then you've not made it through the payout queue yet.
