Hey, my name's Brandon, and I'm the co-founder of Bookcoins. (Currently under development) I'm here to let you know our mission. We hope to bring you guys loads of awesome books from independent authors.

Features:
  • Instant downloads
  • Open to all authors
  • Low commissions
  • More to come

This is just a preliminary release to increase interest. If you'd like to know when it's actually released, visit http://launch.bookcoins.tk and sign up!

If you'd like to donate to help us along, (trust us, we're really low on Bitcoins and we'll love you forever) please send some coins on over to 1BooksEAaPx6eiev5D52i96eWTfnwz2XPL.

Anyways, thanks you all! I would love the community's thoughts on this and suggestions as I continue to develop this! I know I'm a relatively new member, but I'm determined to prove my worth to the community through this site.

One idea would be to create a bitcoin front end to Amazon or as they have just about every book imaginable. Or
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ which has free worldwide delivery.

I'd love to get that going, but that might be a little problematic for me just off the bat considering as a front end we'd have to handle the conversion/orders, but I'm definitely adding that to my metaphorical website bucket list. Also, I'd love to turn this into a hardcover publisher through a partnership once we're well established. I think we've started this all on approximately $5.23 in a combination of Bitcoin and Paypal. The domain's free, the hosting's free, but we're going to get an upgrade as soon as we can afford it. Thanks for the feedback!

On your website: The picture of the books is nice, but it is almost impossible to read the text over it. Consider either making the picture less bold or increasing the opacity of the textbox. And increase the font size, the text is like a tiny little blip in the center of the screen, it should take up more space.

Is your plan to offer the books in e-book format so people can download them to their e-readers?

Sorry 'bout that! Had trouble finding a good public-domain image of books, and that was the only one I could find that doesn't look like it was taken/drawn by a preschooler. If you can find a decent image, I'd be happy to swap it out. Also, the text is like that because our site is using Launchrock. There is currently no way to change the text layout using that site, so we're stuck with that format. Also, yes. Our mission is to deliver books in an e-book format. We plan to offer them in .pdf, .epub, and .mobi formats, possibly adding more later. All downloads are going to be DRM-free as well.

What is a coinurl?

Coinurl is like Adf.ly. It's a combination of bit.ly and advertising. Shortening links with short interstitial ads to generate revenue. You can cash out the vouchers or use them towards advertising.

You ought to make this coin like Bitmark or BTM, but apply the idea of books to the same concept.

How about get a group going on Goodreads. Start a proof of read, collect coins on the basis of how much you read.  There are so many possibilities with this coin.

This is a 2 year old thread... although Bitcoin as a concept is perfect for such educational programmes, e-learning, courses and qualifications could be simply developed and spread worldwide.
