Hi! I'm new to, well, everything bitcoin. I've installed BitMinter 1.6.1 on my home built Windows 8.1 system.

Here's my mobo, memory, and video card:
Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB

BitMinter says that my approx mint speed is 0.0002 per month.

From the little that I've poked around these forums, that seems way too low.

Am I missing something?

Thanks Smiley

You do not have specific mining hardware (ASICs) so you will not see any income. In fact, you will be spending far more on electricity and replacing PC parts than you will ever see in income.

What you are talking about doing was possible 2+ years ago. It hasn't been possible to mine Bitcoin with a CPU or GPU for over a year.
