hi Friends,

I need some information regarding Crypto coins USB miner. I am intending to purchase a USB miner for Coins like Bitcoin or Dogecoins etc. here is some of major questions for me as mining beginner..

- What is average speed for that USB miner?

- I have budget of $100 can I get good one?

- What electricity it consumes? (in vats)

- How profitable it is?

If I am keeping that active for 12 continuous hours, with or without joining a pool the how much coins can I earn in a day (Bitcoins or Dogecoins or Latest Crypto Currencies)

- Should I go for it?

Thanks in advance..

You will not make any money mining even with free power. If you buy a miner it should be for fun at this point.

( Link goes to an overview of these types of miners )

Bit more information on why a Bitcoin USB miner is a bad idea if you're looking for any sort of monetary profit:

Litecoin/DogeCoin miners.. I think there's only 2 options there (DualMiner and whatever the actual name of the 'U Disk Wright' is), and those, too, tend to be a bad idea.. you'd be better off with either a more beefy miner for those (not sure about sub-$100 options there), or using a GPU (though in that case there may be other altcoins that are a better fit).

USB miners sadly will be mostly to learn/have fun.  You might as well get a original BE 333 mhz for cheap, as with usb stick miners they just cannot compete on price.  Ultimately it will be for fun.

In all seriousness, I agree with these other posters. I have a Raspberry Pi  as a controller and run both Antminer U2s and a Gridseed Orb (aka Mini or 5 Chip), and needless to say there will be a return on investment, but it will be a year or so. I would recommend Antminer U2 or preferably a Gridseed Orb/Mini/5 Chip, because the Gridseed can do either Scrypt or SHA256 or both types of crypto currencies. Other than that. If you want an expensive, but more power friendly dual miner, then get a DualMiner. The DualMiner does 70kh/s for Scrypt or in dual mode 500Mh/s SHA256 & 40kh/s Scrypt.

You can find the above devices on eBay easily for under $25. If you want to make serious coin, then expect to shell out thousands of dollars or of your local currency to make it big, but remember your ROI will take longer as time goes on.

P.S. - I don't intend to get rich, just want a fun hobby and make some "coin"  Grin

pretty good item. if you have free power it is worth a shot.  it uses about 130 watts

Good advice but I have one thing to add. You'll never earn enough on any pool to meet the minimum withdrawal amount or cover the withdrawal fees with a single USB stick. You'd probably need several dozen just to meet the minimum.

I'd also like to say that even if you had thousands of dollars to invest, you'd most likely never get a return on your investment. Just read two other threads in this topic to learn why. But the short answer is that you're about a year late to the game.

The last good investments were KNC Jupiters, Bitfury rigs, Antminer S1s, etc. from a year ago. But sadly, they are now obsolete due to the difficulty rise and cost of electricity. Newer miners exists and are much more efficient but they still will never be profitable to run.

Correct - people running them 'for fun' would really be better off solo mining (essentially playing the lottery - in the incredibly unlikely chance that you win that lottery, you get - currently - BTC25).  For those who don't want to deal with setting up a client/server, storing the blockchain, etc. there's even solo mining pools like bitsolo

I think u should purchase some ZeusMiners 1.3-1.4 Mhs for $35 and mining scrypt coins. U can easily ROI with them if u choose the proper coin, or check new coin releases @ altcoin announcements for ninja launch coins. I start my rig with usb erupters and 2 asic blades. 30ghs like rockminer. Those 30Ghs earned me 1.25 Btc. December of 2013 i bought an Asus r9280x Top which cost me 450 euro. March of 2014 i have earned 0.85 btc (Lucky DogeCoin) with that GPU that means the cost of 2x r9 280.
Anyhow u can start mining for fun as other ppl advice you and see where U can go with it!

Good Luck!
