Hi - my single has been happily hashing away 24/7 for a around a month now but today it has started to make a horrendous noise which I can only assume is coming from the fan.
When this happens it disables the FPGA from my mining client - if I give it a little knock it stops the noise for a few minutes but then starts up again!
This is extremely frustrating since I havent had the single that long - any EASY way to fix? I emphasise EASY since I am a complete novice at "computer stuff" which is why I didnt get into mining until it became "plug and play"

I have had to unplug it for now since I cannot leave it unnatended without it cutting out anyway!

Maybe you have to clean the fan...
It could be dust in it...

It sounds like the bearing is cutting out. You can try blowing it out with air but it probably wont help. You might have to take it apart to change the fan or send it back under warranty (if they offer a warranty service).

Mine did that too (one of the internal fans). I just put it on the side (led down), and it silenced. After a month I moved it rightside up, and it has been running fine ever since.

I did this myself to haha, eventually though I had to contact bfl to get new little fans with those heat sinks, they're pretty easy to change out, took me about 15 minutes.

Same here.  I was pretty happy that they shipped them priority and for free.

Issue with the bottom fan are pretty common. I had one that was rattling out of the box. Turns out the fan is hitting the bottom of the case. You can open it up and add spacers if that's your issue.
