Merchant in Osaka - easiest way to accept bitcoin

I have a friend who owns a restaurant in Osaka. He knows nothing about bitcoin and I'm trying to get him to start accepting it.

What is the most straightforward way ? Would he be able to use Coinbase ? Presumably he'd then have the problem of converting USD to Yen.
Is there a Japanese equivalant of Coinbase ?
Or would it be easier just to have customers scan his QR code (paying directly to his own wallet) - and then he sell the Btc locally (somehow) ?

Any help appreciated. Not so easy for me to advise as, on top of me being pretty naive in this area, I'm in the UK - and so have no local (Osaka) knowledge.

It would most likely be easier to have customers scan his QR code than do anything fancy and he can check the exchange rate manually or something, there is coinkite of course but I doubt that would support the Japanese market very well though I'm not hugely familiar with how they work and whether they rely on an exchanges API to operate. There's nothing stopping him from simply accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment by itself, he can get started on that right away, it's just a bit trickier if he wants to deal with Yen constantly.

It's  a good idea, you need to let him know the advantages of bitcoin, future potential, as long as he likes on bitcoin, o naturally he will know how to receive it.
