For all intents and purposes, bitcoinplus is a scam. But it is very fascinating to me. Its profitably is zero, but it has the potential to introduce bitcoins to a wider audience. Even mining fractions of a bitcoin can do wonders to get people interested. "Look, I got my first coins, and I mined them myself. 0.00001 bitcoins! this is fun!" That's before the catch.
bitcoinplus.com has a hidden withdrawal fee of (correct me if I'm wrong) 0.01 bitcoins. So to withdraw 0.01 bitcoins, one must first mine 0.02 bitcoins. And one can only withdraw in increments of 0.01 bitcoins (after the requisite 0.02).
And the payout decreases the closer one gets to the minimum withdrawal amount.
What an utterly pointless endeavor.
Just go to mycryptcoin.com or some other site to easily get fractional bitcoins.
Are there any other java mining options besides bitcoinplus? I hope so. A decent web-based java miner would be a boon to newbies.
This isn't the best solution for newbies as the returns are really small.I'm sure GUIminer isn't too hard to setup (Just stumbled on the post talking about it)
