Where is the proper place to post to introduce myself?

I see that welcome posts are largely frowned upon & it seems that they get removed now? I've been a lurker for awhile so know a little about the forum but is there any thread where I can ask for some help on certain subjects whilst explaining a little about how I came across Bitcoin etc.
