Question: What to (nick)name 100 Satoshi / µXBT
mike (short for micro)
ubit / unit (comes from µBTC)
uni
zib (because why not)
xi / xib (so XBT could be 100 satoshi while BTC is 1 bitcoin)
something else as long as it's not 'bit'

I agree keep it simple. Everyone knows what is 100 satoshi and changing it will just lead to mass confusion. Why do people want to change things all the time? TO feel part of Bitcoin?

Colloquial terms will vary by culture.

The question of what unit to use and what name to give it will depend on the economic context and local culture.

As far as what I want my Bitpay invoices and coinbase balance to show me, it's microbitcoins...which I call bits...but if I were buying a car or house, I'd use the unit and name bitcoins.

Hardforks aren't that hard. It’s getting others to use them that's hard.

Why don't you add "bit" like multiple people have asked?

The only reason you would not is that you know it would win the vote. Prove me wrong.

Awful choices, awful poll.

This.

You just will not give up and accept that the majority now believes that "bit" is the best term on the table, or at least the least shitty one of the lot.

EDIT
I didn't even notice that some idiot necroed this old thread, can we please let it die?

I really hope no one converts to bits or any others maybe when talking to friends and family or people about BItcoin to make it more simple for them but not in a Bitcoin environment.

No matter what it's officially named, those using it in the Hood may refer to it as some other, i.e. Bitchin (changing only one letter).

"Mayn, check out my CHEDDA BLOCK! Dem bitchins to da ceilin' 'n all conform'd."

I'm not sure where you are up to with this pole as I've just come across it but what ever name is given to an amount of satoshi, shouldnt it be unique and not named after a countries currency such as cent, penny euro. It seems fitting that something so new, so unique and so different than anything before it, should have its own names for different values. It just seems the right thing to do.
