Mt Gox trade ins

Hey all,

So i've yet to actually trade in my bit coins for USD yet. Was going to use Mt Gox. Does it work fairly simple? Like, for say, I can see 10 BTC's and get USD ASAP or do I have to actually wait for someone to buy it? Some feed back or better ideas on how to convert BTCs to USD would be very much appreciated.

mtGox needs at least 6 confirmations, so it will be more than one hour usually.
