It's saddening to see the Diff shoot up so fast so high.  in so little.

Curse you Bitmain and these new hardware.   I fix my hardware and my setups outside and indor for winter..  I turn on another S1 to catch up a bit.. bringing me up to 1.6TH/s and now in a day.. itll all be for nothing... Well not nothing.. but yea.

Dang i need a real Job, or need to wait for a higher $/BTC and order some S3s.

Soon.. ill be out of the race once again Sad

God.. Why did i ever spend so much damn money into Remote Control Cars...... Why didnt i invest it all into BTC hardware..

Dang hobbies.. why you gotta be so fun.

Might have to put some remote control cars up for sale on eBay and get some S3's...

Especially, after seeing this:

I'm adding to my hardware. Is $80 for 110 Gh/s worth the cost? Whatcha guys think?

Watts?

and Power costs per kWH?

If watts were 200 watts at the wall and power costs are .15 per kWH

@ 39 Billion difficulty & $332.00 per BTC:

Power costs for 1 month = $21.92
Revenue for 1 month @ $332.00 for BTC = $13.81
Less Power Costs for 1 month = minus (-) $8.11 [A LOSS]

Depends on your watts and power costs...

An S1 at 180 Gh/s with BTC at $332.00 and 350 watts at the wall with 39 Billion difficulty and power costs @ 0.15 kWH:

Power costs for 1 month = $38.35
Revenue for 1 month = $22.56
Less Power Costs for 1 month = minus (-) $15.79 [A LOSS]

An S3 at 450 Gh/s with BTC at $332.00 and 375 watts at the wall with 39 Billion difficulty and power costs @ 0.15 kWH:

Power costs for 1 month = $41.09 (.15 per kWH)
Revenue for 1 month = $56.39
Less Power Costs for 1 month = $15.30 [A GAIN w/power costs @ .15 per kWH]

Power costs for 1 month = $21.92 (.08 per kWH)
Revenue for 1 month = $56.39
Less Power Costs for 1 month = $34.38 [A GAIN w/power costs @ .08 per kWH]

With BTC price so low at the moment in relation to difficulty, one's power costs and watts at the wall in relation to hash rate is VERY important to KNOW if it's worth it or not.

My power costs are .08 during the winter in Alabama.  So, that helps a lot for me to go with a difficulty that is quite high with S3's.  It would be much harder for those who have much higher energy costs.

Using an older rig that uses more watts than hashing power (200 watts for 110 Gh/s) is not good in this high difficulty environment and BTC at a low dollar value.  If it uses 300 watts for 110 Gh/s, that is even worse.

I'll have to look into the kWH. I'm in NW Indiana, it's really not bad here.

I'm looking to buy a RockMiner NEW R-BOX and the Power Consumption is: 110W~120W. I have some extra BTC from an illustration gig and thought I'd add more hardware. I've been using the YellowJacket USB miners x16 with a powered hub.

With difficulty at 39 billion; BTC @ $332.00; Electricity @ .10 cents per kWH; and watts @ the wall at 120 watts

Power costs for 1 month = $8.77
Revenue for 1 month = $14.03
Less Power Costs for 1 month = $5.27 [A GAIN]

Of course, this is IF the difficulty stayed at 39 billion for that entire month.  It looks like difficulty could be as high as 45 billion in 12 to 14 days:

Bitcoin Difficulty:   39,603,666,252
Estimated Next Difficulty:   45,052,631,237 (+13.76%)

Updated:

Power costs for 1 month = $8.77
Revenue for 1 month = $12.16
Less Power Costs for 1 month = $3.40 [A GAIN] w/diff @ 45 Billion; BTC @ $332.00

I might be able to purchase two units. Talking with the current owner on a deal. If I can, I'll have roughly 260-270 Gh/s total. My end goal is to supplement my monthly income since the job market here is terrible. No body is hiring for more than 30 hours a week.

Trying the old "smart small" routine.

I understand...

I found it takes a LOT of hashing power to do any kind of substantial supplemental income.  That's why I started out with 16 rigs [all S3's].  My goal is to add an S4 every month to these S3's till I've added 6 to 8 S4's to them.  It is getting crazy right now with the way this difficulty is going up.  We need the price of BTC to go up BIG TIME.

I'm thinking seriously about getting the power company to add another 200 AMP meter to the side of my house with another cable feeding it.  I would rather spend the money on that than spend the money on a lease every month for a building somewhere to do my mining.  I don't have the capital for that.

I'm sure it will. I don't buy in to all the doom and gloom stuff. The current price is where it was when I got into bitcoin. New tech will be coming out that hashes much better than what we have today and the old tech will be selling for cheap. Just think of what a 100Gh/s was going for 6-7 months ago. Really it's no different than the PC market in respect to advancements. As they say, patience is a virtue.

My sentiments exactly.

Once I get 6 to 8 S4's, I will then begin selling S3's on eBay to replace with S4's.

I'm sure something will come out this time next year to replace S4's

I'm pretty confident BTC will be approximately $1,000.00 by this time next year.  At least I'm betting on it by getting these rigs.

We need BTC to be more than double what it is right now when the number of BTC's per block cuts in half in 2016.  The reason I say BTC needs to be MORE than double is because the difficulty will be very high by then.  Maybe as much as 70 to 80 Billion.

That makes me wonder what is in store for the blockchain. I read something about "merging" blockchains or adding "side" chains. Not sure how that would work or how it would be done. At some point to maintain any type of value, the difficulty is going to have to be restrained, especially if it is going to be used as a currency and not just investing.

Power costs for 1 month = $41.09
Revenue for 1 month = $56.39
Less Power Costs for 1 month = $15.30 [A GAIN]

With BTC price so low at the moment in relation to difficulty, one's power costs and watts at the wall in relation to hash rate is VERY important to KNOW if it's worth it or not.

My power costs are .08 during the winter in Alabama.  So, that helps a lot for me to go with a difficulty that is quite high with S3's.  It would be much harder for those who have much higher energy costs.

NW Indiana ...if you have NIPSCO electric then your paying .125 KWh plus taxes. If your interested in buying S3 miners I have upto 4 I would sell and live over by South Bend so we can meet and save the shipping cost.

PM me your price. See if something can be worked out.

Yep, good'ol NIPSCO  Cry It'll probably be 10% higher next year knowing them.

LOL

Might have to put some remote control cars up for sale on eBay and get some S3's...

Especially, after seeing this:

Bitcoin Difficulty:   39,603,666,252
Estimated Next Difficulty:   45,017,908,770 (+13.67%)
Adjust time:   After 1985 Blocks, About 12.8 days
Hashrate(?):   300,988,886 GH/s
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block: 9.3 minutes
3 blocks: 27.9 minutes
6 blocks: 55.7 minutes
Updated:   0:25 (1.4 minutes ago)

this prediction was so far off it was sad. 45 xxx is now still under 40 xxxx  and on dec 1st or so it will be 39-41 .  it surprises me to see diff near 40 but really flat.

my opinion is builders of gear are finding under .5 watt gear too expensive to build so far. thus they know  with .65 watt gear growth is not so good for them.
